Current Affairs Donald Trump POS: Judgement cometh and that right soon

I'm astonished that so many folks who live in Merseyside are so obsessed with American politics. I'm looking for a Brexit thread on an NFL fan site, and I can't come up with one. If you find one, please advise.
1. What happens in American politics (sadly) has a significant effect on the world in general.
2. I’ve lived in the US in the past.
3. As a result I have a good number of friends in the US who are more directly affected by the current political climate
4. I have a few family members who live there.
5. I didn’t realise there were limits on what we’re allowed to show interest in
6. Not sure pointing out that the US is generally one of the most insular developed countries in the world (particularly when it comes to education) has much to do with anything.

But thanks for your input anyway

It’s not a Merseyside thing, every single forum I read has a huge Trump thread despite none of the forums being US based or even politics based. Fact is he’s a trainwreck of a person and currently in the biggest job in the world, scandle follows him everywhere he goes so it’s hardly surprising there is lots of interest in him.

Plus there is the blunt fact that the rest of the world has always had a soft spot for laughing at America and Trump gives everyone more ammunition to do so than ever before.

Far, far past laughing to be honest. It’s depressing and worrying far more than it’s funny.

Though tbf, it’s not just Trump/USA. The exact same sentiments (and a number of the same bad actors) are to blame for the UK’s current predicament.

Thanks for your answer. I'm not trying to limit anything, just looking for a perspective I can't have. It's an understanding thing.

Aside from the personal links, I admit I do find American politics more interesting in some ways than the U.K., partly down to the significant, truly delineating differences between the parties, whereas in the U.K. you can hardly get a folded up cigarette packet between LAB and CON half the time.

The devolution (or let’s say change, if I’m being generous) of the Republican side over the time I’ve paid attention has been quite unbelievable.

Why do you think this is the case?

I'm sure there are many reasons but I’d say a large part of it is down to the commonly held perception that Americans believe they and their country are the greatest thing ever. No one likes self proclaimed greatness and rightly or wrongly that is something Americans are famous for.

Obviously this a generalisation, im fully aware not all Americans have this mindset but it’s the ones who shriek the loudest that get noticed and thus become the stereotype.

Their imaging/mapping of media narratives might amount to something

This is nailed on, so far. This is particularly delicious:

Our choices for president in 2020 will be The Mule and Madame Defarge. Enjoy.

Indeed, the center will not hold. Centrifugal force has triumphed over the centripedal.
