I wonder why. Taking a wild guess, it just might be something to do with the swing to the right in both countries caused by Trump and Brexit.

Too right to be honest. He and a huge portion of his supporters (both inside and outside of government) are absolutely despicable.

His statements and actions are such that supporting him simply shouldn’t be socially acceptable.

You can have (small c) conservative views, that’s absolutely fine. But true conservatives or traditional Republicans (not the absolute cluster f that the party has become in recent years) should be utterly ashamed of the takeover that has happened.

This period will be written about for a long time to come - and with a bit of time and perspective, the story won’t be “god aren’t both sides dreadful?” It will be “how was this allowed to happen”
