There is a good saying about ‘respect your armed forces, because otherwise, one day, you will have to respect your enemies armed forces’......the military is more than a war machine, it is a machine for ensuring peace, a peace you have enjoyed for a longer period in history than previous generations enjoyed....

I was simply pointing out the reason some do call some of them heroes and why they have the upmost respect for them and the situation alot of them are in and why they sign up.

I think this country could do a lot more for its troops and treat them better instead of giving them false praise and thanking them.

A friend of mine was shot dead by a cop (an ex marine)who was later diagnosed with PTSD and put on administrative leave by the force. My friend himself was a veteran with PTSD.

He went at him with a knife and lost his life. The cop was obviously excused and it was justifiable but many believed as he was armed with a taser and night stick he could have disabled him but alas thats not their training.

The cop got into trouble later on in his career and was put on admin leave for mental health issues.

And please please tell me you're not pinning your hopes and a mass D turnout in 2018 to somehow stem the tide of the Dems getting rolled at BOTH the federal and state levels. You're going to be sorely disappointed.

I've got a better idea.

Turn out a candidate that can appeal to the broad electorate and one that has a platform that ordinary Americans can latch on to.

Hint: Identity Politics, Inequality, Socialism, calling people not like you "racists, bigots, or homophobes" etc... isn't going to be a winning platform. If you think that someone like Sanders, Booker, or Warren is going to swoop in and Obama's "legacy" is going to be back in style, you're gonna be disappointed.

I guess you underestimated the effect Trump would have by insulting the intelligence of educated people for two years.
