The tone deafness of the people who work in this admin shouldn’t surprise me but it often does - she was there about a guy who seems likely to have been tortured and killed ffs.

Saudi’s see that they’ll know they can’t mess with the US , message already being delivered.
I think as well the fact that this bloke was apparently tortured and dismembered in a consulate just feels even worse somehow , you know ? It just feels incredibly flagrant and brutal , I suppose for all the tragedy of the skirpel situation obviously somebody died it always seemed at least a little amusing from the high espionage level to the interview of the two Russian ‘tourists ‘ about their love of Salisbury cathedral .
Understandable Pete, especially as the death that happened was a random woman whose partner gave her some perfume that was the discarded agent. Could easily have been other victims from such an attack.Oh this has been a very cynical killing. But killings take place all over the world, every day. I just tend to worry about the ones that happen on our own streets.......I know, very selfish of me......

Don’t think we have to focus on just one or the other attack though, both the Saudi and Russian governments seem pretty blase about extra judicial murder outside their borders and I don’t think the actions of both our govenments to date are doing much to change that unfortunately.
Too “Realpolitik” for me that Pete which is why I would makea lousy politician. But it is one reason, beyond climate change, that I support transitioning away from fossil fuels to reduce our need for Saudi oil.But it’s understandable. This Saudi action is a disgrace and right up there with anything that Russia would do. BUT, and it’s a big but, Saudi is the only Western supporting nation big enough within the strategically important oil producing region. It provides a base for Western powers and provides Billions of £’s and $’s for our defence equipment, keeping hundreds of thousands in work. This is geopolitical and unfortunately if we don’t support them, the likes of Russia would and put a stranglehold on oil. It sticks in the throat, it upsets our sensibilities and morals, but it is necessary unfortunately....
