I'd say Manafort was waiting to see what would happen before deciding on whether to cooperate with Mueller.
He was relying a lot on hoping that Gates would take the fall, this hasn't happened.
He has another trial coming up at state level, if found guilty in that, which is likely now, he can't be saved by a presidential pardon.
Manafort and Cohen guilty on the same day also greatly increases the likelyhood of impeachment if the dems win the house in november.
It also doesnt do campaigning republicans any favors as most have been campaigning on pro trump tickets.

Even with a Republican controlled Congress, its hard to see how there could not be some move for impeachment now. Cohen just said he committed offences at the direction of the President, and everyone (including Trump) admits that money changed hands.

Manaforts lawyer just said on tv “considering all options” - presumably meaning cooperation with Mueller.
