I'm staying up late to watch this. Love this show.
Even with a Republican controlled Congress, its hard to see how there could not be some move for impeachment now. Cohen just said he committed offences at the direction of the President, and everyone (including Trump) admits that money changed hands.
Fox tv discussions tonight on Hillary’s emails will be wild.
I'd say Manafort was waiting to see what would happen before deciding on whether to cooperate with Mueller.
He was relying a lot on hoping that Gates would take the fall, this hasn't happened.
He has another trial coming up at state level, if found guilty in that, which is likely now, he can't be saved by a presidential pardon.
Manafort and Cohen guilty on the same day also greatly increases the likelyhood of impeachment if the dems win the house in november.
It also doesnt do campaigning republicans any favors as most have been campaigning on pro trump tickets.
not unless the polls change
Even if the GOP maintains control of Congress, this is not the sort of thing that could just be ignored.
just watch them...
if their constituents aren't arsed, what do they have to gain?
there is nothing legally mandated about impeachment - it is entirely political
the GOP will only move against Trump after their voters do first
It is political, but don't forget this is exactly the reason why Pence was put on that ticket - to protect the party.
You have on the one hand Trump - who was (and is) no friend of any of the Congressional GOP - and on the other hand you have their careers. If they leave Trump alone, after his lawyer has said he committed federal crimes and its blatant that he did it, then they will have to ignore whatever Mueller finds out as well (and whatever else Trump does from this point on). This is their get-out of that situation.
This will be hilarious until President Mike Pence is sworn in.
