It is somewhat sobering to realise though that this would never, ever happen in the UK.

arresting Cohen, you mean?

political corruption in the UK always seems quaint because relative to America, the monetary stakes are so small. you probably couldn't even buy a US state senator for the amount that Leave overspent.

i think the US embraces the global money-laundering scene on principle, whereas the UK relies on it for economic survival; higher education is probably the only other truly globally competetive industry, and even that is being run into the ground behind the scenes

Honestly, as much of an unadulterated shitshow as his "presidency" has been, this MIGHT be good for America to really start looking seriously at itself and how they look at white collar crimes..
