Current Affairs Donald Trump POS: Judgement cometh and that right soon

I actually think public perception is the larger and more impactful aspect of the story. When you talk about him in 30 years, or the league, Kaepernick couldn't even get a job will be what people remember. Especially those in the black community that largely makes up the rank and file of NFL players.

I think how the coming generations view it will be more telling in terms of the Kaepernick story. Trump has a difficult relationship with that community and will continue too. That will last through out his presidency, and I by no means think the NFL is more important than the presidency.

But I do find the more interesting story to be the relationship between players, current and future, and the black community's view of the league when it comes to Kaepernick.

Just my opinion, and I fully agree with the poster, Kaepernick's performance dropped. However, I do think he is a fringe to lower tier starter or a good back up. The quarterbacking in that league is awful. I'm a Bills fan, if I know one thing it's poor to mediocre quarterbacking.

Not directly related to your post Yank ..... but you make interesting points.

Pete Carroll mentioned when they tried out Kaepernick as a backup the last two seasons that Kaepernick wanted to be a starter and his agent pushed for starter type wages.

People seem to forget that 3 teams tried him. The other 2 teams didn't pick him up probably because of the same thing.

Kaepernick has a legitimate claim but if he still sees himself as a starter then well no one will pick him up and well he will continue to believe he is blacklisted because of his views.

It's on record that 3 coaches Carroll, Belichek and i cant remember the 3rd have said he wanted to be a starter and not a backup.

It's cheaper for teams to pick older guys or younger guys who don't demand the same type of wage.

Politics aside and controversy aside Kaepernick was always known as an arrogant player. there were many in the niners camp who didn't like him for it and it had nothing to do with his views.

Either way i do think he may have a legitimate gripe but so far he has tried out with several teams in two years to be spurned in the end. Carroll has been the most vocal about his time with them and has tried him out on two different occasions.

I'll start it with this. I'm not really a Kaepernick fan as a player, I'm not even sure I'm a fan of him generally. However, I could be wrong and if you think I am I'll look for sourcing on this, I believe Pete Carroll said they didn't keep him because he was too good to be a back up. I think what a lot of people assumed to go on there is Russel Wilson had his issues with the defense, and is seen in a different, more unpopular way racially by the likes of Sherman, Bennett, and Thomas. They didn't want any potential controversy started.

I don't remember any interactions with Belichick, and I think the 3rd coach you maybe referring to would be Jim Harbaugh?

I could he wrong on this and I will try to find the sourcing if you like, but I believe he has said he would accept a back up role. I don't believe that was his position initially in free agency, but I believe he said he just wanted to be around the game.

I personally, before all of this, found him to be a douche. I generally try to be fair though, so I could see how my posts seem all over the place. I believe you though that reports came out where he rubbed teammates the wrong and came across arrogant. I can see it 100%.

He didn't give an eff about any of this until he started dating some MTV personality.

I can't disagree with any of what you said. Honestly myself i was a fan of his but the whole controversy seems to overshadow the fact that his career was on a downward spiral still it's not the controversy that made me lose interest in his career. He still deserves a chance as lomng as his agents have his best interests as should the NFLPA.

I do agree Carroll said that but he has contradicted himself several times on Kaepernick considering they have signed two others when claiming they might sign him and again Carroll says he might sign him as of April 24th.

Carroll is all about his own popularity and whatever soundbite sounds good he will run with.

Anyway like i said i wasn't directing this at you but as you made good points i felt it was easier to reply o your point.

As for the other coaches i tried to google the sources but as its two years later hard to find maybe it was rumours at the time so i can accept maybe there wasn't others. Its late and i'm a few beers in haha!!

But its cool man you don't need to get sources i was spit balling really i agree with most of what you say like i said

TBH its that MTV personality who probably cost him at least one job, that we know of.

The French President speaks with forked tongue. Trump is absolutely right in respect of trade, the USA is being taken for a ride. The EU puts innumerable barriers, financial and technical in the way of free trade, while taking advantage of the USA. Free trade and trade in general should be equitable to both parties and at the moment it is not, without question. The U.K. is more concerned about him going soft on Putin than his trade stance, the other EU countries are only concerned with continuing their beneficial arrangements. Trump will win this one, and deserves to as well......

er - no.

The huge US trade imbalance is because they import a massive amount of goods that can be made much cheaper abroad than they can be at home (and by the way that has been a deliberate policy choice of successive US Governments), and also to a much lesser extent because the things they do produce are almost always geared towards domestic consumption rather than trying to compete overseas (ie: the F150).

Nothing Trump proposes is going to change that; he isn't going to make US exports actually competitive (that would require severe cuts in the production costs; ie: layoffs or wage cuts) and the idea that he'd let Boeing and Airbus (or Boeing and anyone) compete on a level playing field is laughable.

It is true that the USA puts up its own barriers, especially in respect of Air, Naval and Defence equipment, and also true that many of its products have been designed specifically for the USA. But other countries do similar. The EU however is very cute at introducing technical requirements and standards that favour certain manufacturers and countries. While The USA can be just as bad as anyone, Trump is still right to raise this. It may actually do all of us some good.....

Trade Benefits Both Sides

David M Rothschild on Posted on June 2, 2018
President Trump is going to fail in any trade negotiations because he is a terrible negotiator. But, even more important in this case, he literally does not understand trade, which makes it very hard to do well in a negotiation.

Trump is a bad negotiator. He failed miserably when he tried to negotiate a deal for: gun safety, immigration reform, denuclearize North Korea, keep Iran not nuclearized, etc.

1) President Trump is the least informed person at any table. Everyone he deals with has a background on the issues and/or reads the briefings. That puts them at a big advantage over Trump. Trade is a good example here. Trump thinks trade is zero-sum. This is the equivalent Trump having three barbie dolls and five barbie outfits, and his opponent having two barbie dolls and five barbie outfits. Since no wealth is created by trade, he wants a deal where he just ends up with more of each thing. This is unrealistic and not useful. But, in reality there are people who have barbie dolls and then there people who have barbie outfits. And, if someone has five barbie dolls and someone else has ten barbie outfits, both sides can gain a lot by trade. The barbie outfits are very valuable to the person with five barbie dolls (and no outfits), and the barbie dolls are very valuable to the person with barbie outfits (and no dolls).

2) President Trump is not patient. Negotiations are hard and take time. Trump does not like either hard work or spending time doing things.

3) President Trump cannot keep quiet. It is psychically impossible for Trump keep his cards to himself. His opponents have asymmetric information: they know everything about him and his position.

4) President Trump does not actually care what happens. Trump actually cares about Trump looking good for a few minutes, more than the long-term impact of anything. In other words: Trump has an incredible discount rate for anything that happens a few days from now, where we should value what happens a few days from now.

5) President Trump is personally corrupt. Trump would certainty take things that benefit himself or family personally, over the good of his country. This is a classic principle-agent problem: he is a bad agent for US.
