Current Affairs Donald Trump POS: Judgement cometh and that right soon

I honestly dispair that some of Trump supporters will look at a tweet like this and think “yep, he knows what he is doing”.

If we would come out even better without him “straightening out” the trade deals why is he trying to?

at the same time he called for Russia to be re-admitted to the group.
The same Russia who officially interfered in the last election and are under surveillance for meddling in the run up to the mid-terms.

I found this very dignified and interesting.

I wonder how these protests will be viewed in 30 years time

Yea, it's hard to tell.
I live in a liberal progressive state and all last season I couldn't talk to NFL fans (of which I am one) about the protest. Patriotism and the flag are very emotive issues here. It's easy to shape the narrative around all this by saying you're disrespecting the troops and the flag.
Trump will keep doubling down on this as he knows it's a way to reach moderate republicans who otherwise would have no truck with a lot of his policies.
They only started playing the anthem at games quite recently and now the military are heavily involved. Every Sunday is like some strange Disney version of remembrance Sunday.
Black players make up 80% of the league and unless they organize and mass protest, nothing will change and Trump will continue to whip up hate among moderate republican NFL fans.

Agreed on much of what you say - one factual thing: the National Anthem has been performed for many years at NFL games - that is not a recent thing. I recall playing it as part of a college marching band 30+ years ago at Denver Bronco games. (and then drinking our way around the "U" of Mile High Stadium as it existed back then).

The big recent change is the players being on the field for it. They used to come out after it was played. The NFL signed a deal with the US Armed Forces a few years back and now the players are on the field.

The next labor negotiations the owners have with the players is going to be a tough one. They changed the rules without getting it into the labor agreement.

Religion is no longer as powerful as it once was, patriotism and blind worship of all thing military are the new tools of the powerful to control and blind the masses.

I think as an outsider looking in the protest have been extremely dignified within the sport, and I've a lot of admiration for them, I remember learning about tommy smith on the olympic podium and how powerful it all seemed studying it 30 years after the event, will others see colin kaspernick in the same way, then again I've not really too much idea how smith and carlos are viewed in america today, do they meet with the same rabid denial that the footballers face?

I definitely think Kaepernick will go down in history thanks to the over reaction of Trump (and of course for his own bravery in taking a knee). It will be really interesting to see how his legal case against the NFL goes.

Kaepernick is going to go down in history more so due to the NFL not giving him a job, the Trump part is smaller imo.

He has 32 billionaires colluding against him and Eric Reid.

I doubt this will be the case, even sportsman who stop at 19/20 are more remembered for what they did when they were sportsman than not getting jobs after, strange statement to make
