Current Affairs Donald Trump POS: Judgement cometh and that right soon

Sorry about the brevity of my last post. I think there are fundamental differences between the two parties. This won't be an all inclusive post but I hope it will give you a bit more clarity on the rifts (some vast, some not as much) on the differences between the two parties.

Overall Role of Federal Govt:

Democrats: generally believe it is the government's role to regulate the free market. Without regulation greed and poverty rule the day.

Republicans: generally believe government regulation hinders the free market. Regulation prohibits market growth which in turn prohibits growth for everyone.

I am painting with a broad brush here but I think fundamentally that is one of the biggest core differences between the Left and the Right in this country and I think it dictates the stances on many individual policy issues.

TAXES:

Left: as income increases, taxation increases on a percentage basis.

Right: taxation should be the same percentage for everyone.

HEALTH CARE:

Left: universal health care for all. Programs like Medicare and Medicaid for the elderly, disabled, and poor.

Right: the private sector is a better because the govt wouldn't be able to effectively run health care.

IMMIGRATION:

Left: generally support making immigration easier.

Right: generally believe in strict immigration.

Both do believe it should be regulated.

ENVIRONMENT

Left: strong belief in protecting the environment. Beyond retaining natural beauty the belief is that protection is necessary to avoid destroying the environment.

Right: government protections hinder the country's ability to use it's natural resources. This creates reliance on others and prohibits growth.

RELIGION

Left: generally believe religious beliefs should not play a role in policy. The nation was founded on religious freedom and policies shouldn't infringe on other people's religious beliefs.

Right: generally favor Christian beliefs playing a role in govt policy.

DEATH PENALTY

Left: generally favor life sentence vs death penalty.

Right: generally favor death penalty.

Definitely not as clear on this one. Both sides have a lot of crossover.

GUN CONTROL:

Left: favors varying levels of gun control.

Right: favors less gun control.

Both believe in the 2nd Amendment...just disagree about it's application.

ABORTION:

Left: generally believe it's the woman's right to choose.

Right: generally believe abortion should only be legal in extreme cases.

This is getting way into TL;DR length. This is not all inclusive just a few of the issues off the top of my head.
Isn't the OP's point though that:

1) "The left" in America is generally farther right than "the left" in other countries. I'd tend to agree with this

2) Despite idealistic jargon, money talks, and talks to both parties. One could argue though this is the case everywhere.

Guess I should just dummy up and let this sit there, but...

Good luck running on this platform in November. I guess humor died in November 2016 for some people. If the antlered community was walking through my yard, I'd be less arsed than if it was a community of MS-13 members. You'd be amazed how many registered voters of both parties would agree, if they were being totally honest.

edit - that said, thanks for caring about the state of my soul, cheesey. This is not snark.

Perhaps I overreacted. I think it was funny without that comment. It's the same sort of OTT crap you just posted in that tweet about gang members.

My worry is that you will end up a parody of yourself like Bill has become. His twitter account, if I didn't know better, looks like a MAGAbot parody account.

Personally I think it weird that so called “small government conservatives” and “defenders of the constitution” have decided to run on a platform that ridicules due process and sees no issue with a government agent pointing a someone and saying without evidence “they are part of an awful group, lock them up without bail”.

But when the guy leading the party runs on “Lock her up” I guess that is what you get.

I guess the point is why even make a comment like "not even human", even if describing "some" immigrants.

The point is that I cannot imagine him referring to white hicks living in shanties in Appalachia as "not even human."

That's the problem. Why even go there with inarticulate, headline-grabbing, hyperbolic, insensitive word choices such as this?

Dumb white trash who live in America are sick people, but some immigrants are "not even human"

It boggles the mind.

I think that's a totally reasonable point. BUT I don't think it erases my concern about the media. I think, deep down, you probably agree. You want to beat Trump straight up, making the point you just made? Fine by me. But when 95% of media outlets present a statement in the same context-less manner? That's as blatant as it gets. Similarly, look at the reporting on Haspel vs. Brennan.

Believe it or not, I can deal with opposing viewpoints. The thing that frustrates me most is dishonesty and hypocrisy. And I say that without any illusion that my "side" is exempt.
