"It took Christopher Steele, with his funding concealed through false campaign filings, to be incredibly successful at creating a vast echo chamber around his unverified, fanciful dossier, bouncing it back and forth between the press and the FBI so it appeared that there were multiple sources all coming to the same conclusion. Time and time again, investigators came up empty. Even several sting operations with an FBI spy we just learned about failed to produce a Delorean-like video with cash on the table. But rather than close the probe, the deep state just expanded it. All they had were a few isolated contacts with Russians and absolutely nothing related to Trump himself, yet they pressed forward. Egged on by Steele, they simply believed Trump and his team must be dirty. They just needed to dig deep enough...."

...from 2008 Clinton campaign coordinator Mark Penn. This is in The Hill this morning, not The American Spectator.

“Isolated contacts” is a ridiculous claim when there were multiple contacts including by the Presidents own son, son-in-law and campaign manager, all of which were lied about at the time/repeatedly after and in an environment where the Russians were hacking the other campaign and election systems.

Extensive liasons with a hostile foreign governments aren’t normal for campaigns, nor is hiring idiots like Carter Page who had already been actively tapped up as a spy, nor a crook like Manafort working for free. Nor is a campaign worker chatting to a Five-Eyes ambassador that he has prior information about Russian hacking, no matter how much Penn is trying to wave “Clinton Foundation” as a rabbit for people to go haring after.

If Trump wanted to avoid a special prosecutor he shouldn’t have fired Comey for patently made up reasons. Mueller is being remarkably quick for such an investigation and if Penn is convinced there isn’t anything to find then its better for Trump himself the investigation is completed with full exoneration.

These folk are so very worrying.

Level of stupidity on display there is truly frightening, they want to look for an enemy where there isn’t one.

That woman who said there are no go areas in the U.K and got angry when told it was fake news ?!?!

Crazy

these people have been raised on a diet of sludge from talk radio and fox news.
Now they have a voice and that's scary.
What's scarier is that moderate republican politicians are kowtowing to their every whim because of their new found power.
This leaves moderate republican voters (like mez) kinda in no mans land. No one from the right is getting elected if they publicly disapprove of their fringe.

It’s a shame that moderate republicans are betraying their own beliefs under pressure from these guys.

But the question is why is nobody challenging these beliefs that are broadcast on Fox and radio stations?

They are clearly false and from here in Europe it does not portray the US in a good light....quite the opposite

The whole news media works on a very sensational level here, right or left, moderate or extreme, local or national, it's all entertainment and ratings based.
Most are raised on local news which is the worst and completely plays on peoples emotions, usually an army vet who rescued a cat from a tree while carrying an american flag or some such.
To answer your question, people do challenge these beliefs but unless the challenge is as extreme as the beliefs, it get's no coverage and there fore, no traction.
It's in the interest of the large media companies to keep the sides extreme and sensational, sells ad space.
Question is, can they control what theyre doing?
What's happening with social media platforms would suggest 'no'

I Can't Believe It's Not Trump.

Social Media, Sentiment and Public Opinions: Evidence from #Brexit and #USElection

Yuriy Gorodnichenko, Tho Pham, Oleksandr Talavera

NBER Working Paper No. 24631
Issued in May 2018
NBER Program(s):Public Economics, Political Economy

This paper studies information diffusion in social media and the role of bots in shaping public opinions. Using Twitter data on the 2016 E.U. Referendum (“Brexit”) and the 2016 U.S. Presidential Election, we find that diffusion of information on Twitter is largely complete within 1-2 hours. Stronger interactions across agents with similar beliefs are consistent with the “echo chambers” view of social media. Bots have a tangible effect on the tweeting activity of humans but the degree of bots’ influence depends on whether bots provide information consistent with humans’ priors. Overall, our results suggest that the aggressive use of Twitter bots, coupled with the fragmentation of social media and the role of sentiment, could contribute to the vote outcomes.

An interesting study it seems, but unfortunately behind a paywall.
