Donald Trump for President Thread

The only sliver of light I can find with the result is that assuming Trump doesn't seek reelection in 4 years, Pence will be the automatic nominee and that will shut out Cruz and Rubio. In fact I'm sure those two were hoping for a Hillary win so they'd be front and center in 2020.

Not that I want Pence anywhere near the Presidency.. but I'm hoping after 4 years of Trump the country will wise up and a decent Democrat candidate will sweep the board. It's not as though Trump got a landslide yesterday. Looks like Hillary will still win the popular vote.

dont understand why the president isnt purely elected on popular vote, its one person representing the whole country

bizarre

Not quite. We have a few "fail safes" in senate and the house; Congress can override the president by majority vote, but with what is likely to be an all Republican government, that is not looking too good anyway. The last time this happened was in 1928. For your reference, check this out.

Does it really matter though when ignorance and bigotry win the day?
Well here shortly he won't be the president anymore, but as it stands he's the most powerful man in the United States. It will be very interesting to see because honestly this is one of the most passionate current presidents I've seen campaigning for the Democratic candidate. In my opinion if there was an exception to be made for the two-term rule, it would have been for Barack Obama.

I've had a bet in the uk on the winning vote share margin.
I've no idea if this is what is now being called the popular vote however ?

There are still millions of people in this country that don't believe he is a US citizen and believe he is a Muslim.

The right brainwash the ignorant with lies.

That isn't how Trump won, though.

What he did (and what Corbyn did in both of his leadership election campaigns) is to point out that things are bad and he will make them right; he was boosted by HRC saying that everything is ok and that you can't risk change. When an effective majority of people agree that things are bad, its a winning strategy.
the difference in my eyes is Trump reached out to his core supporters and offered hope, Corbyn doesn't even have the support on most of his party and offers nothing to its northern white working class former supporters ,actively surrounds himself with London bubble elite who look down there noses at them as if they were something on the bottom of there shoe , also unlike Trump carries years of political baggage.

what i mean is.. why does it have to be college votes for each state? you are electing one person, so why not just the popular vote?
