Donald Trump for President Thread

It will give Corbyn some confidence and ideas of how to play the media if a snap election is called next year.

Surround yourself with shouty nutters (like Mcdonald and Abbott ) and ride a wave of (this time far left) anger?

You can bet Milne and his mates are beside themselves with last night.

That isn't how Trump won, though.

What he did (and what Corbyn did in both of his leadership election campaigns) is to point out that things are bad and he will make them right; he was boosted by HRC saying that everything is ok and that you can't risk change. When an effective majority of people agree that things are bad, its a winning strategy.

Maybe this year with Brexit and now Trump it may tell politicians that running a project fear campaign doesn't scare the plebs into voting the way they want as both those who ran campaigns like that lost having gone in as strong favourites ahead of the vote.

It is funny seeing the outcry on social media of those who backed the wrong horse, much the same as after the Brexit vote they are just claiming the voters are idiots and the world is doomed. The people have spoken, get over it and wait and see what happens.

Yes. And imo the reason why clinton didn't do as well with the black, hispanic, native american & muslim communities is because despite her electoral promises and criticism of trumpas a racist, she didn't do enough for them when she was a senator, or part of the obama admin.

Been saying much the same, and I agree with you. As I mentioned earlier, the slogan "make America great again" is so simple, so boorish and yet unbelievably adaptable.

I see food banks as a major product of this. Not only is it an indictment of governments that we have left our most vulnerable to do this, but we've allowed the middle classes to soothe their guilt about it by making donations. Rather than realising they're just breaking off a small piece of their own bread, this group (that erroneoysly identified most with Cameron / Milliband/ Blair) should have thought "actually, we've created and are reinforcing this situation". It's not about letting people starve, it's about letting people have access to the functions and frameworks that allow them to feed themselves.
