Dominic Calvert-Lewin watch

Lot of injuries in there, rushed back twice and played through injury too did not help.

The one thing I credit Dyche for was not rushing him back and essentially giving him that time. Problem was he gave him a style that allowed one shot every two games which bothers me far more than his tally. All strikers are rubbish that get few chances because all strikers miss far more than they score
We all know that from watching Beto and Barry this season.

@GrandOldTeam is going on here about what a massive mistake we made not giving in to his demands.

We withdrew the contract offer. Had we have offered him say 100k p/w he would have signed on, and we would probably be in the top 6 now.by playing him, over the substantially inferior Beto and Barry.

Let's be honest, anyone who had even the vaguest understanding of football could say he is far beyond what either of those two can deliver (combined).

Lewin would have scored v s,land, the barry miss and the beto chance v burnley ,just them two goals woukd have put us on 29 pts and 5th in prem, fine margins and all that.

He seems to score an awful lot of goals for a guy who apparently can't finish?

Maybe the issue was him playing when injured, and then laying for Sean Dyche with zero chances to finish after all? Just an idea like.
He did miss quite a few howlers for us in the last 2 years, but overall yeah - getting him central and around the box will get you goals. Very good when confident also.

We were apparently stupid idiots for wanting our striker to be the focal point of our attack instead of someone who has to win a header from a hoof and lay it off for *checks notes* Doucoure to fumble.

Also "he was missing for his last 2 years due to injuries" is not true - we were turd and played to not score, but he was there, and when he wasn't we were even worse. If we'd have him now we'd definitely be better off - any actual average football manager could tell you what he's good at, only Dyche never saw it somehow, despite being amazing (allegedly, yet to be seen).

Not sure in the shorter term how the investment of picking Barry over him - currently one seems more worth it, but oh well.

This is taken from a Sky Sport's social media about six days ago, so his recent goals will follow the same pattern - the ball being where he scored from.

It's almost as if Carlo was correct with his mantra, although to be objective, Dom did miss some sitters from similar positions for us.

However, I do think it's fair to say that how we played Dom in the latter stages of his career probably didn't play to his strengths.

The mistake was letting him leave rather than just paying the wage he could get elsewhere if he left.

He's 28. This is who we've signed since Lukaku over a decade ago.

I was one of his biggest critics on here. But it makes you wonder, was he playing constantly with injuries and if so why and why didn't the medical team sort him out. Was he right mentally, ie, did he down tools under Dyche? Did he not want to be here anymore? Did the criticism from the fans have an effect on him? Something certainly wasn't right cause he seems born again now.

Nothing like a few goals from DCL to get this thread moving again.
I don't have an axe to grind with the lad in fact I wish him well.
The run he's on is attracting attention but he's definitely a confidence striker and his form will come and go.
Leeds seem to be relying entirely on him for their points atm and as much as I wish him the best personally I hope Leeds are relegated.

I’m not even convinced he wanted to stay anymore tbh.
I wanted to keep him but as we got to the window prior to his leaving it was pretty apparent a deal wasn’t going to be done so wanted him sold then.
Other than offering him an outrageous contract, I think he’d simply had enough in the end, and I can’t say I blame him.
Eye watering contracts given to chancers who contributed far less than him.
A significant proportion of the fan base that had well and truly turned on him.
Getting booed for coming off with a broken eye socket.
Fresh start in his personal life with new Mrs and kid, not surprised he fancied a fresh start in his professional life too.
