Doing a Leeds

It's been mentioned a few times today by various posters that they're concerned about where we're heading as a club. This has been largely sparked by rumours of the £145k-£150k weekly wage that we are supposedly willing to pay Cenk Tosun.

So, are you concerned that if we're offering those sort of wages (not to mention the transfer fee) for what are unproven players that we could spiral into financial difficulty and have to rapidly sell our assets and tumble out of the Premier League?

The comparisons with Leeds are worrying, it also reminds me of Tony Fernandes coming into QPR and throwing crazy money at loads of average footballers, look where that's got them.

£45m on Sigurdsson is another example of the silly money we've thrown around, vastly overpriced even in todays inflated market.

Do you have genuine concerns?

We are doing a Leeds but with a far crapper side. If your gonna lose the plot, at least do it with a decent side like Martyn, Ferdinand, Viduka, Kewell and Smith etc. We are doing a Leeds but doing it on the style of Walsall with the likes of Cuco, Niasse and Keane. We are the donkey version of Leeds

3 star jumpers, petrol blue Birmingham bags, full length leathers and stack heeled shoes? No I'll give it a miss

Yes in relation ti some if the players we brought in and are not using and the faulure ti bring in a lukaku replacement.

But the leeds situation was different. We didnt spent big on unproven players. They had shown promise in other teams and leagues. All teams have some risk unless u r buying a world class player in the 100 mill region. We have spent big but we brought in alot of cash through sales. In so much if we had sold barkley we would be close to even. This is a point that so many people miss. We hear time and time again everton spent 150 million. But do we hear them offsetting that with how much we brought in. Never. Its 3 transfer windows. This is the 4th. To me we have not overspent looking at the incoming monies overall in those windows

We had a short window to compete with the big six. Instead we sold our best player alienated our most creative force and wasted millions on an incoherent transfer strategy headed by a ignorant manager, a glorified scout, an eager but naive new shareholder and a Theatre luvvy who couldn't negotiate his way out of a paper bag. Now we are regressing due to incompetence at every level. I'm not worried about doing a Leeds in the short term simply because the TV money will continue to spiral. However when that European super league happens and we won't be involved then we have problems.

I don't have an issue with the money that we are investing. A lot of it is money we generated through the sales of John Stones and Romelu Lukaku, Ross Barkley is sure to leave soon so there will be money from him and hopefully a few others. You need to spend big wages and big transfer fees to compete, Leicester are the only exception to this.

My concern is that the players we are buying, whilst mostly all proven at decent levels, are not adapting to the club at all or the style of play/formation (pre Allardyce). There is either a major problem with the way we scout players or there is a major problem on the managerial front that we don't have managers capable of getting the best out of our players. The answer probably lies somewhere in between.

Haaaaa, you don't half know how to poke the bear!

Yes. We're utterly doomed imho.
