Does Moyes' reign look better with hindsight given the dismal performances of his successors?

It is somewhat ironic people denigrate Moyes, while aspiring to get back to the level he achieved on a shoestring!

Perhaps it is all because of the “boring” football. Personally I think he maximized the results with the resources he had available

Martinez was pre-Mohiri funds, the other two post-Moshiri.

And before you waffle on about David Moyes- he was given ELEVEN YEARS to create what he did. And one of his finishes was 17th!

If discussing context, it would only be fair to point out that Moyes took over with the club at fear of being relegated under Walter Smith, and in the previous 2 seasons had finished 16th and 13th. Martinez came in to the club after we had finished 6th and 7th in the 2 seasons before and then sent us considerably backwards after his excellent first season.

Moyes made us considerably better during his time here
Martinez made us considerably worse
Koeman had a reasonable first season then undid it all.
Allardyce wasn't here long enough to bother assessing him but in terms of league position took us up the league, albeit with dire football and the jury would have been out on him this season.

Since Joe Royle, Moyes is the only one who has been a good manager here.

David Moyes was a fantastic manager for us, but I don't think we should look back.

We need to give Marco time, Moyes' second season was awful but the board and the supporters stuck by the team and we were rewarded massively for doing so.

I am grateful for what Moyes brought the club. He found some pearls in the transfer market (and some duds, who doesn't) on a pitiful budget.

He was negative and unexciting in the general though, remember Heitinger and Neville in central midfield? His teams did have some moments of sheer class, but they were too far interspersed with hanging on for a 1-0.

Glad he came, glad he left.

Martinez was definitely more exciting and more frustrating in one. Koeman brought solidity at first, then some really poor and half-hearted decisions. BFS just brought embarrassment after embarrassment.

Here's hoping our current regime brings a Silva lining.
