Tom Ince for 8m

or

Arouna kone for 5m

or

This Danish lad no one's heard of Cardiff have just paid 7.5m for

Puts Kone into perspective imo but people still seem to think it's a bad signing cos he's 29 and didn't score a hatrick every game for one of the worst sides in the league last season

Yeah there was a thread about it in World Football. Lots of laughter, comparisons to Jordan Henderson style excesses on overrated English talent.

I might be wrong about him, of course I might, but I'm not basing my opinion based on who is dad is or who he used to play for; I'm basing my opinion on watching him perform, and a few stepovers and bits of pace in the Championship isn't enough to justify what, for us, is massive money on a player deemed not good enough in the eyes of the Liverpool coaching set up 24 months ago.

The gulf between the Championship and Premier League is massive as we all know, so we need to be careful as to who we take a punt on from there as they can be misleading. For every Tim Cahill there's ten Dave Nugents.

Of course, there's never any guarantees & he could equally make me look a chump with my backing of him, but I've watched plenty over the years & this lad is good imo & certainly better than you're giving him credit for there. He needs to improve his consistency & continue working at his game, but he's certainly got bags of ability & in todays mad market I reckon £8m isn't out the way tbh.

I would just begrudge the fact that 4mil of the fee we paid to Blackpool would go directly to Lpool as they apparently have a 50% sell on fee in his contract

you can think of it that way, but I prefer to see it as £4m LOST by Liverpool because they did not have enough foresight to see what the player would become when they let the lad go less than two years ago. The rs scouting network is appalling! Not only can they not identify talent and value in the transfer market, they have trouble identifying talent in their own youth ranks!

Not for the money being thrown about for him.

When there's Mirallas type players out there going for 5 or 6million, he's not that good.

would he be worth 8mil if hed stayed there though? right now hes worth 8mil because hes been bangin them in the championship and hes young... he would of got prob a third of the appearances at the rs and a fraction of the goals. some players just need game time to develop.

also i believe its 35%, he gets 15% of the fee aswell which is where the 50% has come from

so it would only be a couple of mil goin towards the rs.... i would still stay away though

Have to agree. Moyes watched the players he bought from the Championship over and over before committing and never paid over the odds.

We can't afford to make Zaha type gambles and wait for them to click like United etc can do. When we pay big, he's got to be ready to step up and play.

It's tough to judge those players too. Abdul Tabrabt ripped up the champo 2 seasons ago. Was a total inconsistent show pony in the prem. A 1 in 9 player.

Ince is nowhere near him technically but looking at 10million+ for him? Not for me.

Callum Mcmanaman would be the better bet if we have to pick.

They could have let him out on a season long loan instead of selling him to Blackpool for pittance. Would have made a lot more business sense!

Callum Mc would be my choice too, scouse, blue, knows the manager, young and english while we're throwing that one around.

I dont get why so many people on here are so against it

Would getting Ince, Moses and Kone for the price we sell Fellaini for be good business?

yep, we coped pretty well without Fellaini last year in the games he missed through suspension, Spurs away being the main one i can think of, we played some great football that day.

But moses, ince and kone would be an exciting new front 3 and youd have jelavic/mirallas to factor into that as well
