Do you rate Thomas Ince?

Are you a scout? Neither am I. I prefer to look at the facts of the deal.

5mil average player whose value will plummet.

8mil player with a lot of potential who has minimal risk.....

Common sense.

No mate i'm not a scout,,, but I do have a pair of eyes and a fair grasp on how football is played and I would rather rate a player by actually watching him that by reading some stats about a player I had never seen play before.

For the record, I think Ince is a decent player.... but that's based on me actually having seen him play once or twice... not because some stats tell me.

I would just begrudge the fact that 4mil of the fee we paid to Blackpool would go directly to Lpool as they apparently have a 50% sell on fee in his contract

I'll take Kevin Phillips word over yours in this instance, think he might be a bit more switched on to the situation having played pro football for over 20 years and having played with them both.

No offence like ;)

And i'll take Alex Fergusons judgment over kevin Phillips'

about the same level as Jermain Beckford.

8mil for someone whos only prooved himself in the championship?

no thanks

also 35% of that 8mil would be goin to the rs.... even more reason to stay away!

We laughed when Liverpool where going to spunk silly money on him at Christmas months after basically releasing him. Literally every single one of us did.

My opinion of him hasn't changed, I think he's found his level in the Championship and is a transfer disaster waiting to happen for anyone who takes a punt on him.

That scene in Ghostbusters when slimer 'slimes' Venkman? That would be pretty much what i'd look like, the amount of spunk i'd produce at Tom Ince signing for Everton.

Really?

Them looking to spunk a wedge on a lad they gave away for a pittance, is not the same as laughing at the quality of the player himself.

I think you'll be eating those words in the next year or 2, the lad will make it imo, the fact that he's a bit of a beaut isn't really relevant, most of them are these days.

He's disliked by most more for who his old fella is (BMG excluded)

He drives all the way from Blackpool to get his hair cut by Miles the African Barber on Smithdown Road....im not even joking

Yeah there was a thread about it in World Football. Lots of laughter, comparisons to Jordan Henderson style excesses on overrated English talent.

I might be wrong about him, of course I might, but I'm not basing my opinion based on who is dad is or who he used to play for; I'm basing my opinion on watching him perform, and a few stepovers and bits of pace in the Championship isn't enough to justify what, for us, is massive money on a player deemed not good enough in the eyes of the Liverpool coaching set up 24 months ago.

The gulf between the Championship and Premier League is massive as we all know, so we need to be careful as to who we take a punt on from there as they can be misleading. For every Tim Cahill there's ten Dave Nugents.
