Osman is one who is well over rated said to be nearing full fitness, should have been paid off with this injury, way too old now.

Distin is out this summer anyway but again I think in his mind he was top class, maybe at one time but not over the last 3 years. Word I heard was the WHU move was off over length of contract clearly to me he thinks he is still up there.

Hibbert should not have had a new contract, doing nothing these days for his wage and just blocking young players coming through, I think inhis mind he is better than he actually is.

McGeady, now inmy book he sees himself as world class but to me he is championship level.

Howard words have already been said about him, I think he is swollen headed.

Naismith, hard to say but in my view he is not as good as he thinks, saving grace for him is his pugnacious attitude.

Alcaraz, only two people rate him, himself and RM.

Squad is better than we've seen this season but not as good as people thought at the beginning of the season

Probably 6-9th best in the league, last season we overacheived and everyone else was crap

I think it's probably safe to say that there are a number of Evertonians that vastly over rate our players. Nothing wrong with that in my mind. It's harmless and giving support to players is generally good.

But do the players themselves think they are better than they truly are?

I'm looking at:

Mirallas - reckons he's good enough for the Champions League even though he can't play more than 4 games in a row without being a fanny.
Lukaku - spouting rubbish about wanting to play for a huge club
Howard - walks back into the starting line up despite being poop all season (admittedly not his fault but may give him the feeling he's better than he is)
Barkley - does he think he's as good as he is?
Barry - Plays every game

There are probably more examples.

What did Martinez say about players leaving because they wanted to win something? Wasn't his comment basically that if you need to go somewhere else to win, maybe it's you that's the problem?

Or maybe their attitudes are just crap. Most of them looked great at times last year, so there's something there...

My only concerns are the young players making mistakes; Rom's aggression leading to silly mistakes and Barkley's timidity, etc. Get these guys settled and focused. Give them specific roles and tasks to accomplish. The older guys will sort themselves out (and some should probably be sorted out by Martinez).

You need attitude in your goal scorers - they need to feel they can be or are the best. Because they prove that by scoring.
Confidence, or self belief, has plummeted this year. Coleman and Barkley excelled last year as they found new confidence in their abilities. It's all gone this year.

Agreed with virtually everything you wrote, apart from Barkley. The lad has no confidence and has been poor all season. I don't think he thinks he's better than he is.

Not only are certain players guilty of thinking they are better than they are but certain supporters are guilty of thinking certain players are better than they are, too.
