Discussion & help on depression & mental health related issues

Not a mental health issue per say, currently suffering from Flu. Has anyone else suffered from forgetfulness with Flu. Woke up not knowing what day it is. It that just brain fog, or is it something more serious like sepsis.
That's a heck of a connection, if you are that concerned, (and you have every right to be) because sepsis is so very serious, either get to the doctors or get to A&E.

I slipped a disc in July and was the same mate. I didn't know what day it was when I woke up. I think dealing with any ailment can disorient you

If your concerned about sepsis I would be getting down the one stop.asap

Finally got a referral to a psychiatrist which alone has been an uphill battle, this is for a formal diagnosis for PTSD i'm told. I thought this was something soldiers got.

This has been a battle tbh.
Anyone can,I was diagnosed some years ago after cancer treatment. I honestly thought if I got into remission that I'd be jumping through hoops but it didn't turn out that way. Hope you can get the therapy that'll turn it around for you.

My ex girlfriend had PTSD.

Before she met me she had just left university two years into her course after being diagnosed with it.

All stemmed from her childhood

She had a relapse when we were together and we had to end it so she could focus on getting better.

Good luck mate. As someone who’s gone through therapy I can say it’s a long road but well worth it in the end.

We had a brilliant walk on Saturday from Bramley Moore to Goodison and back for the TALKHUB men’s walk and talk. It was good to see so many lads get out on a Saturday morning. We finished the walk off by showing the lads our stone on Everton way and then went in to the cafe at the ground to get a hot drink.
It’s good to talk lads 💙

Was talking to a therapist a few years back for general anxiety stuff and she said she wanted a proper assessment for PTSD, subsequently got diagnosed with that and things made a lot more sense, switched to a different sort of therapy that felt a lot different to what I was previously doing and found that helped a fair bit.

Hope it goes well mate and is a step towards getting the right help.

bri i’m always here if you wanna vent mate x
It's interesting Bryan alluding to believing PTSD as something only soldiers experience, which I suspect is a popular belief. However as the name suggests it's how people react tona traumatic event in their life and how it impacts them. A lot of children get PTSD from witnessing domestic abuse, experiencing physical or sexual abuse, witnessing or being involved in a horrific car crash. We are "wired"differently and as such we react to certain events differently. Supporting people with PTSD can in itself be stress inducing, often requiring patience and understanding. The tentacles of abuse etc are far reaching often affecting loved ones inadvertantly. I suppose one of the best ways we can support someone is to tell our loved ones experiencing PTSD we'll be there for them and even though we dont fully know what's going on for them being there for them can have so much meaning, although sometimes it's not possible. I've been doing this job a long time and you know what, I'm no where near being an expert on what goes on in the minds of people. We all just try our best, try to be good people and care for one another and that in itself is a very noble thought.
