Derby Memories

The Anfield derby 85/86 season. Two nil to us (Ratcliffe and Linekar). Was stood in the Kop in my Everton blue. No aggro back in those days. Some of my best mates were reds and it was all just good banter. I believe it's changed into a less companionable relationship since those days.
Was also at the first all Merseyside FA Cup final...not a great result for EFC...but an amazing occasion.

December 1969, Goodison 3 - 0 to them including the Sandy Brown goal. Maine Road, 77 & Clive f׶∆¥\g Thomas. The Andy King winner.

I remember travelling all the way from Durham Uni to stand on the Street End and witness Glen Keely's entire Everton career. It's a long journey back when you've been battered 5-0 at home.

I did it back in May mate, no bother at all.

That is great to hear. The intense but companionable rivalry between two same city clubs was unique to Merseyside. Blue could stand by red with no violence. The most threatened I ever felt was at Old Trafford...the Mancs wanted to effing kill us!. Only time in my life I was grateful for police presence!

I've mentioned it before but it stands out as typical Kopite arrogance (though they actually had more reason to be back then).

Waiting at Bidston station on the morning of Oct 28 1978. With my mates all aged 13. 2 twenty year old kopites walk over Kopite:-''wanna sell yer tickets lads?'' Us:-''nahh'' Kopite:- ''Why? yiz 'll only come back cryin', hahaha'' Me:- ''We'll see.''

Get in!!! OH ANDY IS OUR KING, OH ANDY IS OUR KING, OH ANDY IS OUR KING!!!!

First ever derby was when we won 3-0. Singing 'time to gooo, fcuk off!', First time my old man let me swear. Great day to be honest.

Seriously? brave man you, could have turned naughty if we won. I could never do something like that, I couldn't resist from going mental if we scored.

1989 FA Cup Final - surely the most poignant of all Derbies (even more so than the Goodison Derby, the first game after Hillsborough)

Can't remember which game it was, but it was the mid 90's. Sitting in Lower Gwladys about 12 rows from the front, It was the first half and that lot has a corner attacking our end. All the players were standing around and getting into position when I noticed a fella running down the stairs to get just behind the goal and shout " EHHH FOWLER " to get his attention. Fowler looked at him and then the fella shouted " YER LIZARD FACED [Poor language removed] " The fella just ran back to his seat.

Still makes me laugh to this day.

Kanchelskis derby at Anfield was tremendous, poor Phil Babb did not know what to do with him. I was sitting in the Main stand and high fiving some random blue when we got the second.
