Pienaar has a tendency to go missing in this fixture though. It would be Mirallas in front of Baines, and Sterling will play centrally, Baines doesn't need any more protection than Barry. If anything, I would advocate playing 433, to cramp up the middle, and restrict the space Sterling has to play in. I would play
Howard
Coleman Stones Jagielka Baines
McCarthy Gibson Barry
McGeady Lukaku Mirallas

or

Howard
Coleman Stones Jagielka Baines
McCarthy Barry
McGeady Naismith Mirallas
Lukaku

Second one for me. Don't think Gibson is fit enough yet to start a derby. I know he played 90 in the week but don't fancy him in the derby.

I'd do the same but Pienaar/Oviedo for McGeady. Just my opinion, McGeady 80% of the time tries to hard. He beats the man then puts his cross into the stands. Very frustrating but he does have it in him so can see both sides. Think that's the only position up for debate though. All the others are nailed on.

i suppose you could argue Oviedo isn't fit enough to start cause of the intensity and you'd have a point there.

A semi serious question, if you saw one of their lots best players in an alley, the day before a derby game. would you be even the littlest bit tempted to injure them there and then?

I mean you wouldnt do it to Sahko but Sturridge is down a dark alley dancing like a tit or sterling is prowling for a new woman to get pregnant would you pick up the nearest thing and go for the kneecaps?
Lol, As long as i got away with it, yes.

Rather tie them up though and let aki destroy them, they woulnt be able to run for eweks

Fair enough, for me Pienaar should be the first team option when he's fit and its not a derby. I just think due to the fitness of the options, and the fact that it allows Mirallas to be on the left, McGeady would get my nod this weekend. However, I think any of them should have the number of their full backs, who are all turd. I agree that all other positions should be nailed on, but that's hoping Coleman is fit.

PLEASE GODS LET IT BE

I'm not even concerned about Coleman. He'll be fit. He got a bang to the head a week ago, nine days ago by the time to derby comes.

I think it's Bobby playing it cool. Pienaar I have no idea about but I'd imagine they'd both be fit.

I don't want to think about me being wrong. Stones at RB would mean Distin at centre half - we'd have no chance.

COME ON SEAMUS

If coleman doesnt make it, id rather see browning at RB, hes probably best option defensively after coleman there and stones can stay in the center

Much as I'd love to see Browning play RB, don't think it is a good idea to give a lad his debut at a derby, especially at Anfield. Very much a sink or swim situation - Stones got lots of abuse for his performance there last year and at least he'd played 10 games by that point and is a confident lad anyway.

Rather him than hibbo or stones there, at least hes rapid quick and according to the staff at finch farm hes the best out and out defender at the club. Tell the winger ahead of him to track back and id feel quite comfortable.

If hibbos there we'll be demolished, and if stones plays there, means distin plays

I was impressed with Ty in preseason and he probably would do a very good job there.

But if he didn't it could have a longlasting negative effect on him mentally - just think it too much pressure to put on him under for his debut.

Me too. I'd play Browning RB and Jags and Stones CB. But I know Bobby won't which is the worrying part. I can't stand another Distin derby day...

i think coleman will be fit for saturday, not sure if he will play pienaar even if he is fit, why not give oviedo a go at right back hes a versatile player and got to be a better option than hibbert.

But if the pressure of a derby causes Distin, an experienced professional, to act like he has as much spine as a jellyfish why would you think Ty is going to be any better, especially since he hasn't played a minute in the premier league before?

It is like handing someone who has just passed their driving test the keys to an F1 car and asking them to drive in the Monaco GP.

Suarez isn't there so Distin and Jags might not make as much of a mess of their pants this time. Then again, they couldn't cope against Fraizer Campbell ffs
