er - as has been said, he had a release clause so that is why he left Leverkusen

As for Leicester, when he went there was three years before Rodgers went there, three years before Perez signed and two years before Barnes made his debut (and three before he became a fixture in the side).
So they basically, over took him in the team. Yes he has 133 games for them. So obviously Rodgers, didn’t think he was good enough to kick them on. He seems to be doing a good job at Leicester. So he needs to up his game considerably, gray has a lot more to prove than Rodgers

Not saying they won't improve but we can't ignore their stats for assists. Gray 133 prem appearances, 10 goals scored and 1 assist every 14 games. Townsend, 244 prem appearances, 22 goals scored and 1 assist every 9 games.
Yes it’s like our fans think they’re going to turn into world beaters. Both will be gone in 2 seasons. Hopefully we can make a small profit on gray. Unless we’ve put a 50 quid release clause in.

….liked his reaction when we scored, seemed really chuffed which indicates the win mattered to him.
Loved the reactions to the second and third yesterday. Doucoure whipping his shirt off and getting in with the fans was a proper throwback, much like our all action performance tbf

A new signing starts and plays well on his home debut in a 3-1 win and people are on a forum talking about profit and loss in the player...

I hate modern football.
So much this.
Say he was a steal for £1.5m if you like but don’t already be talking about him as an asset growing it’s value, just enjoy watching players do well and win matches in the royal blue ffs, that’s what football is about!

Gray has featured in 133 games, but has only played the equivalent of 60 odd in terms of minutes. His stats aren’t actually all that bad. Not great by any means, but enough to think that with regular game time he can contribute.

I'm a bit baffled by that Leverkusen release clause. lol

He went to Leverkusen cheap because he had 6 months on his deal at Leicester.

Effectively they then put a similar clause into his contract whereby he leaves this summer if they get money back.

Its quite clever as if either party doesn't settle then they can seemingly leave quite openly.

Sorry mate that’s rubbish. Harvey Barnes is a fast winger. Perez was also playing in the wide areas. Rodgers plays 4231 surely that system would suit him. I’m not sure what Vardy has to do with it.

And Leverkusen sell him after 10 games at a loss. After they’ve just sold one of their best wingers for 30mil. Surely a 2mil winger could have been a good squad player for them.
Isn't it better to judge him on what he does here now,and yesterday he was decent.

….I think @Zatara has a point, though. We desperately need a goal and creation threat from wide positions. Every successful side we’ve had included wingers who deliver & that needs to be the case for us to improve.
But that doesn't always translate to a new club. Remember Sigurdsson The dead ball specialist we bought.

….I’m just saying we need goals and creativity from wide areas, I have no idea if Gray will provide that but it’s a reasonable benchmark to judge his effectiveness on.

I get your point but if he gets the ball forward at pace but doesn't necessarily provide the cross that leads to a goal, come the seasons end the forum stato's will herald him as a failure. If he can pick the ball up in deep positions and carried it at pace into the opposition's half that'll be a big improvement on what we've had to endure for the last few managers. People writing him off already purely based on stats seems to be the default position these days.

The reaction to the goal is the positive effect Rafael has had on us all,the fans and players, he has bought us all together as one unit, top management
