Current Affairs Defund the BBC

From a TV view point it's now ITV.
The only newspaper I purchase on any form of regular basis
is The Sunday Times. However, I do go online and occasionally surf around.
As for radio - I have effectively binned it off and listen to podcasts.
I don't touch any form of social media and never have.

ITV is alright, think the people behind the defund the BBC would like to see the likes of a UK Fox News replace it.

I'm not sure they would to be honest.
I think the BBC have just lost the plot and hence the respect of a lot of the general public.
It's all very much self inflicted. Even in the face of the fiercest criticsm they point blank
refuse to accept what they are hearing never mind attempt to change. As I say, they are
the masters of thier own downfall and will happen with very little sympathy from the
average bloke in the street. It's past it's sell by date. Time to bin it off.

Like Farage and Hopkins?
Independent doesn't mean lacking in bias.
No, like, actual journalists, ones who are on the ground who go to location and give actual first hand acounts. Not just commentators. For example Andy Ngo does good work simply documenting far left violence and terrorism across the USA, but most specifically in Portland, since it barely gets reported, let alone reported accurately in the mainstream (from either side).

And yes, but it’s much easier to understand an individual’s bias as you can see their past work and they’re usually pretty upfront about it which way they lean. Hence you can then take sources from both sides to help make up your mind. What it also stops you doing is demonising the other side since you are able to see things from their standpoint.

You should take in news that’s biased. But take it from both sides. I’m very skeptical to trust something that claims to be imprtial. Just taking the BBC or any outlet for that matter as gospel because they claim to be impartial is such an alien concept to me. If it’s corporate news, assume they’re lying (if they report on the topic at all, a lot of the time they just refuse to report topics) and if the topic is of enough concern to you then do you own research.

As I'm a man of a certain age I have to admit that Mary Nightingale reading the news to me is one of the reasons I prefer ITV nowadays :) If you are going to sit and listen about the world ending anytime soon, it might as well be from someone who gets your rocks off! :p

When you put it like that, Sophie Rayworth is worth paying the £157 licence fee.

And that is your opinion and you are more than entitled to it. However, another common opinion is that the
BBC is out of control and acting way beyond its original purpose and remit: to inform, educate & entertain.
It's remit and primary objective should be to report the news and not create the news agenda that it wants to
support and perpetuate - which is what it does nowadays and this is the main reason for its criticisms. Me and my
mates are just normal, working class blokes (middle to old age I agree) where previously the BBC was the go to
channel for the news. Now all of us try and avoid it wherever possible. I was an avid radio 4 listener in the morning
and evenings for years for the news & current affairs. It just got to the stage where I could just not listen to it
any longer. Jeremy Vine on radio two - are we licence payers really paying for this stuff I ask myself?
If the BBC was subscription / advertising based then it could say & do what it liked. However, it isn't. It is
publicly funded 100%. Whilst this is the case it should be completely & totaly impartial and report the news
and current affairs as such. As a previous poster stated: If you choose not to fund the BBC it a criminal offence
and you have a very serious risk of going to jail. In this day and age that is truly obscene. The BBC in their current
state are actually encouraging and allowing Murdoch to park his tanks on their lawn. The amazing thing is that
they can't see this as they are so wrapped up in their own self import bubble. The BBC will be and is the master
of it's own decline and for me and a lot of others, the sooner the better.
Who do you think the bbc are biased against mate?

That Muppet ??
He's the Proud Boy's pet "Reporter", a proper Kopite, hangs around with Patriot Prayer inciting violence and plays the victim when someone thows a milkshake at him.
I flushed more Journalistic Integrity down the pan on Boxing Day morning than he's ever had

Is that you outing yourself as a flagshagger or do you have previous on here?

Seriously mate, if your idea of independent news is only just one down from full on QAnon fabricated batshittery then the BBC is the least of your problems.

Thoust head doth need a wobble, perhaps even with a high speed milkshake.

How long have you got?
A lot of it is more about what they are for and not what they are against.
You have to take the BBC as a whole in terms of their channels of distribution of the news & current affairs.
To use a topical example. Their pro bias for Liverpool football club is genuinely & truly beyond a joke.
Only followed closely by their pro United bias. OK - that's their website content but that is a huge channel of
distribution these days. I don't want or ask them to be pro City, pro Everton or pro anyone. Just be fair,
balanced, objective and reasonable (which they are patently not) and report the news & achievements of all
teams in a fair way. Simon Stone & Dan Roan are truly a disgrace to Journalism. In fact they are in no way journalists,
they are actually cheer leaders for the teams they support. Therefore the inherent bias is pronounced.
Jeremy Vine on Radio 2. Just how woke can you get? The same on their news channels - overtly woke.
They load their current affairs shows like Question Time with panelists who fit, agree and communicate
their own agenda - not to mention the the people in the crowd and what questions the panelists get asked.
They pay (or actually we pay) £1,300,0000 a year to Gary Linekar to present MOTD. Why?
Their Brexit coverage was a total disgrace (in my opinion). Again, all I and a lot of other people ask is to be
fair, balanced & objective and just report the news not make the news and not promulgate their agenda or
ideals. As I have said in other posts, if the BBC was self funded - then fine. But the fact is they are not. They
are a publicly funded body where you go to jail if you don't pay to watch, read & listen what they pump
out on a daily basis. The BBC in media terms is the last of the dinosaurs. The world has moved on.
The BBC is trying it's level best to make itself extinct. Good luck to it in that matter I say.

The milkshake was quick dry cement... he had to go to hospital as he got a brain bleed from it. If you endorse sending journalists to hospital with cracked skulls and brain damage for reporting on protests, you might need to take a long hard look at yourself.

Edit: and those far left tactics are used explicitly to give people like you a way to excuse it. “Oh it’s only a milkshake”. Jesus mate he essentially got his head smashed in with a brick.

WOW!
You're really doubling down calling him a Journalist??

He's a Right-wing Trumphumping youtuber who goes out with the Proud Boys and Patriot Prayer watching and laughing as they start violence. He then plays the victim, and "documents" anyone trying to stop them as being far left terrorists.

I bet you think that Trump won the Election as well
You've really shown your true colours here.
