Which would fall under the scope of recent.

Now if I heard mentioned someone like Alfonso Alves or Mateja Kezman, that would not be recent.

Luuk de Jong is another one. Although he had a failed stint in Germany between the Eredivisie and the EPL.
Fine. Luis Suarez. Bas Dost. How far back we going?

Ajax are the team i watch the most outside of Everton.I can't put into words how highly Ajax fans think of him.I think just like Evertonians Ajax fans know a good player when they see one.Of course the difference in quality between the Eredivsie and Premier League is huge.He doesn't have the same space to do things that he was used to in Holland, and then there is the speed physicality and intensity of the Premier League.I think coming from playing in a poor league like the Eredivisie it's a massive culture shock, and throw in people berating him on top of that.C'mon let's give the guy a chance.
Was reading an article that was critical of the Dutch league and claimed it's slow pace was why players weren't able to make the jump. Klaassen plays fast though. Think he will be fine. That first touch is golden. But don't play him wide.

Anyone see that lovely first-time ball to Martina midway through the first half? That's what he's capable of but he needs much more than Rooney and Siggy moving about at snail pace beside him.

He's not a playmaker or a second striker, he's a box to box CM which is where he always played for Ajax. He still needs to gel into a constantly-changing team, he's excellent at moving the ball and knitting moves together, but we need to establish a strongest 11 first before he can thrive. It's hard for it to click with any player when they're in a very disorganized side.

That's it exactly. He's excellent at knitting moves. First time pinpoint passes slicing in to teams. Unfortunately for him there are hardly any moves in our team. He's wasted in our current setup.

i like klaassen, but still struggling to see why we signed him; siggurdsson was always our top target and rooney was never bought to be a striker it seems. Obviously we thought we'd sell barkley, but with davies' impressive emmergence, the signing did seem odd.

Both klaassen and siggurdsson should be played centrally behind the striker and i do feel sorry for klaassen being shoehorned into the team, sort of out of position in a clustered central team. He's got no space to roam into after he's made his initial passes because of one or two central midfielders directly in front of him.

A Dutch football correspondent was on the Guardian football weekly podcast this week, she said that Klassen is at his best when he has pacy wingers to play through to and dart into the box for the return, let’s be fair, he’s got no chance of that here, at lest not until Coleman and Bolassie return.

Koeman must have had a plan when he brought him in, he’s hanging him out to dry playing him in a completely alien setup.

Nothing against this lad. New to the league and its relentless pace. Trying to figure out what he's really going to bring though. A few flicks here and there, and some tidy passing is what I'm seeing so far. Others say he's a step ahead of his teammates, and has the brains etc. Well, he needs to work it out and adapt too. For me, I'd have him on the bench and let him play in bursts for now. Its a long season. He'll get game time for sure.

I'm sure he'll improve and adapt to the league. That said he shouldn't be given a golden ticket into the first team just because he will be up to speed eventually - Davies is up to speed right now.

Exactly mate doesn't help koeman is playing him not in his usual position , harder for him like that

He will be a good player of us, I'm convinced of it. He was huge for Ajax and has shown a few flashes of what he's about. He's still a yard off the pace of the league at the moment.

Dennis Berkamp was slaughtered by the press in his early days at Arsenal and took a long time to settle.
I am not saying Davy is on par with Berkamp I really don't know how good he is but we have to give him time.
