Wasn't he one of the reasons the pro Martinez people thought Martinez would be a success here, now he has gone does that alter your opinion?

Don't think so, and could be a good fit for a "prehistoric" club.

Frankly Martinez's weakest link is local recruitment, and Weir is not going to change that.

No because its a promotion for him - he was reserve team coach - Stubbs is reserve team manager -everyone should be pro Martinez as a ball has not been kicked as yet, and we should support him - he has to fill big shoes that DM has left just like DM will have to fill AF shoes both a daunting task, lets wait and see this was a thread to wish Davy all the best not to relate it to Martinez! You can not stop a coach going to a promotion of a Managers position. Andy Irvine went to Preston & returned, so Good luck to him!

I wonder if he even spoke to the new manager first before making the decision. Maybe not, because he apparently went for the Wolves job recently. Seems intent on going from coach to manager very quickly.

It's getting spicy in these parts. All the sheff Utd fans seem to think they are gonna get everton reserves on loan. And all the Wednesday fans think its a bad appointment. I hope Wier does well, but I don't want sheff Utd to get promoted.

He was stayin in our hotel in Glasgow when we played Motherwell away last year. Absolute prick, wish him nothin but bad luck. Always liked him until that day aswel

Absolutely nothing wrong With Wier lad, he's a top bloke. Always got time for anybody, unless you yourself are a bad tit.

There's not really any precedent with him, so it could go any number of ways really.

At least with Stubbs and Sheedy you could say how they like to operate by looking at the U18 and U21 tactics, their use of subs, their footballing philosophies etc, but with Weir, i couldn't even tell you anything about how he operates!

What we do know is that he's very determined and hard working, very disciplined and very professional. Sadly the nicest Pro's in the world don't always make it in management.

All the best to him anyway, they desperately need to get out of League One so the pressure is on this season.

He's clearly ambitious to get into management in his own right and I hope it goes well for him there. As someone said earlier, better to get out there and make your own mistakes doing the top job at a lower level, than get handed the opportunity at a top club just by virtue of who you are.

It'll be interesting to see if he comes back to ask for some of our youngsters on loan, although to be honest I'd like to see Duffy, Lundstrum, Garbutt etc involved in the pre-season games so Martinez can make an early assessment of them.

We went down to breakfast, and seen him in his everton tracky. Meself and the lads said hello and asked him afew questions, Barkley etc. he just replied "**** off" turned round and got in the lift. One of the lads wanted o fill him in. No time for him at all

Sorry, this seems highly unlikely to me, unless there are some details you've skipped over?

Anyway, good luck to him, hope he does well.

Good luck Davie lad. He would rate as one of the slowest players we have had since 2000 but he was also possibly the best reader of a game in that period, he was so good it saved him a lot of running. Look out Owls, the Blades will be on the up

Just gone past bramall lane and the car park is mediocre in terms of cars. Wier is expected to have his press conference sometime tomorrow.
