Interesting. I think he'll be a loss, although with Martinez bringing in his own people, there was only going to be so many coaching spots, and Weir was Moyes' best mate so maybe felt it was time to go as well.

I presume Stubbs now has a clear path as the token 'Evertonian' coach into Martinez' inner circle. Would prefer Big Dunc myself like, but there you go.

I was told by a very good source on here that Weir was short-listed for the Wolves job that went to Jackett eventually. He's an ambitious feller, and if true about SU I'm not surprised Martinez isn't standing in his way - he'd be one less potential replacement for him behind the scenes.

Alan Stubbs & Duncan Ferguson - coaches at Everton U21 & U18 levels
