David Unsworth - Temporary Manager

Unsworth has done much better than I expected in the six matches, but I'm starting to come round to the idea that we might need to get a 'proper' manager in place if we want to really push on.

Much better than you expected? How bad did you think he would be? He's lost 4 out of 6, conceding 16 goals. Add in the baffling team selections and there is sadly no dressing it up - he's been woeful. I really like him as an individual and did as a player but he's just doing further damage. Sadly, he's being hung out to dry by our inept Chairman, Board and owner as they let things drift. Painful for him and us.

Judging by the club’s official Twitter/Facebook pages I reckon we’re concentrating too much on piggy back relays in training rather than how we set up without the ball/defending set pieces etc

Sadly this is turning out how many of us feared. Unsworth a blue through and through, doing a great job with the academy, forced into a position he doesn't have the experience or know how for. I don't blame unsworth, but the board. Why sack Koeman, without a replacement lined up? It's like a rudderless ship without a captain at present.

The worrying thing is the sense of inevitability about being awful in games and acceptance of poor performances and results which must be ingrained in the squad.
When a slide like ours is seemingly total and complete, it becomes self fulfilling. The first goal conceded and players think here we go again, and heads go down. Learned helplessness.

He could change the entire XI from last night and it doesn't effect that unless all of them decide to just give absolutely everything physically for 90 minutes and even then you question our quality.

I can't even comprehend Sunday.

Not sure if he's up to it but he's been out in a crap position,
I genuinely struggle to think of anyone that can turn our group of cowards and amateurs into a quality footballing side,
We just look terrible all over the show

Feel really bad for Unsworth today. Any Everton manager that lets in 5 goals at home should not be running the show in the morning. I get he can only pick players from those bought by Koeman and Walsh but it's simply not good enough. The board need to sort themselves out and decide who's running the club then tough decisions need to be made on a manger that is not only a leader but does understand the club and fans and what we expect. The longer this drags on now the tougher this season gets.

Looks out of his depth, but Christ the club have absolutely left him hanging out to dry over the last month.

Hopefully any new incoming manager (maybe we will get one before the next millennium?) will be having a good look at just which players have been not arsed playing lately and they are shown the door instantly the new bloke arrives.

His post-match comments were ill-judged but understandable in the context of the game and the emotions he must have been experiencing.
It isn't wise to throw players under the bus like that though. They are the only ones that can get us out of this regardless of manager.
There are plenty of them whom you can easily imagine listening to his comments and sneering, sadly.

I agree, but many of us can see he wasn't up to it in the first place. Why can't those around him? The only positive is if they pull their fingers out and recruit someone they will seem like a breath of fresh air

Feel sorry for Unsy, the lazy gutless wasters who are currently wearing the blue jersey wanted him in as manager because they saw him as an easy mark. Problem is I have no idea who would come into this mess and be capable of organizing them and instilling a little pride and respect in them.

I’ve been watching since the early sixties and have never been as disgusted with a squad of players as I am at the moment.
