David Unsworth - Temporary Manager

Sleeping rough? He’s sleeping in a top-of-the-range sleeping bag with about 250 people in the secure Goodison Park, probably having a bit of a laugh.

Let’s not make out that Unsworth is some kind of God. The good PR driven for him to get this job full-time is bordering on nauseating. He had his audition and flopped, massively.

The real homeless are getting beaten to death, literally down the road from Goodison.

They raised £7k last year. One of them U-23 players, who’ll probably not make it to the first team, make more than that in the week.

Makes a bit of a mockery of the homelessness crisis this city has, tbh. Bunch of rich kids having a sleepover.
How he expects to manage Everton, when he can't even solve the UK's homelessness problem, I don't know. Unsworth out!

No, I’m not stupid. Can’t you get into a debate without resorting to insults, pal?

They raised £7k last year. That’s bought them a house? It’s nice of that bunch of rich down to earth lads asking the poorest fan base in the Premier League to dig into their pockets, isn’t it? Some of them down to earth lads are on around £10k p/w.

You’re right, I’d definitely bottle sleeping in a secure stadium. They might not have brown sauce to go on my sausage butty there, don’t know how I’d cope, tbh. Or say if they only use full fat milk with the cups of tea/coffee?
You having a bad day mate.

See again mocking them cos of what they do, you are an utter moron. You call our fans the poorest fan base in the league yet crow about giving a percentage of your wage to charity, so you mustn't make much then either seeing as you're part of said fan base. You also don't seem to be critiquing the 200+ fans who joined the so called rich kids in doing this charitable deed last night, many of whom set up Just Giving campaigns to raise extra funds.

Good post mate, but couldn't help chuckle at the "top of the range sleeping bag" reference. He had the Ferrari of the sleeping bag world, complete with electric heated blanket, built in DVD player and portable fridge.

You’re getting really angry about this, aren’t you? Was you one of the fans having a nice night out pretending to be homeless?

I actually do okay for myself, have no money worries - thankfully. But on the whole, Everton fans are among the poorest in the league. L4 (an area I used to live in) is amongst the poorest in the entire country.

I seen the fans who participated posting their photos on Twitter, I look at them as nothing more than people who crave the attention of others for likes and retweets.

Can I ask you if your awareness of the homelessness crisis has improved as a result of them doing this?

I see it as the club giving themselves a pat on the back.

Y’know what I would actually respect? A video at half-time of one of our games of the struggles of REAL homeless people, not these people with homes saying they should be proud of themselves.

But ok.

We live in a society where everything is plastered over social media. PR is everything.

In no way is camping out at Goodison raising awareness of homelessness. How about them actually proactively doing something, like Steven Naismith?

I give a % of my monthly wage to a charity. I don’t feel the need to applaud myself for doing it.

If I was a homeless person and heard that a bunch of rich kids and their manager were camping out for ONE night with hot food and water and claiming that they should be really proud of themselves for doing so, I’d laugh at their ignorance.

The club should get on with being an actual football club, instead of giving themselves a pat on the back at every turn.
Utterly laughable, sneering at a charity event, get a grip ffs

No I wasn't because I've been ill for the past 3 days, but I'd have happily gave up my time to do just that. I didn't need to have my awareness made, I walk past it every damn day going to work, 3 people cramped up on a narrow step outside the Tesco by St John's Precinct, people sleeping on the seating areas outside my work place and the banks. People who my heart bleeds for and who I dip my hand in pocket for to give change to or buy a drink/food for, not cos they ask but because it's the right thing to do.

I live in the L4 area, I see the amount of abandoned or poor conditioned housing daily, hell I live across the road from one that has been in that way for at least 20 years.

This was planned ages ago.
The fact Unsy has still done it, whilst our manager now is a great reflection on his charecter.
Credit where it's due.

That's the essence and contradiction of charity isn't it though mate? Often it goes well beyond altruism.

I think the building of attention is a bit off. I thought Naismith buying those season tickets and working xmas day at a homeless shelter was a proper gesture. Every bit helps though really.

In Judaism, Jews aren't supposed to make a big deal out of giving tzedakah (charity). and the best type is the type where it's anonymous on both sides, but I don't see what's so bad about publicising it in this case. If it gets people to give, great. People on here slagged Koeman off for posting loads of photos of himself eating in swanky restaurants and playing golf and drinking wine and whatever. Unsworth does EITC stuff and it's not good enough because he has money. Should he just not do anything?

And yes, I give money / food / water to homeless people before anyone asks.
