You’re getting really angry about this, aren’t you? Was you one of the fans having a nice night out pretending to be homeless?

I actually do okay for myself, have no money worries - thankfully. But on the whole, Everton fans are among the poorest in the league. L4 (an area I used to live in) is amongst the poorest in the entire country.

I seen the fans who participated posting their photos on Twitter, I look at them as nothing more than people who crave the attention of others for likes and retweets.

Can I ask you if your awareness of the homelessness crisis has improved as a result of them doing this?

I see it as the club giving themselves a pat on the back.

Y’know what I would actually respect? A video at half-time of one of our games of the struggles of REAL homeless people, not these people with homes saying they should be proud of themselves.

But ok.
And while we're at it, what's with speedo mick walking everywhere when he most likely has a car.. utter madness

They weren't raising awareness lad. They were raising money. Which they did quite successfully and now have the money they required to buy a house and do it up in order to house a number of homeless. That's why the fundraising events have been entitled Home is where the heart is.

It's like saying that for years people have been trying to raise awareness for people who can only bathe in a bath of baked beans. Your argument is a completely moot, because you seem to misjudged the entire point of it. @GwladysBlue

As I’ve already said, raising money by asking the poorest fan base in the league to donate. All the while, they’re getting paid ridiculous amounts, when most of them won’t even make it.

If the club put up a video on their social media and/or in the stadium of people with real struggles, it would certainly make a bigger impact.

Unsworth coming out saying what the did by camping in Goodison being ‘incredible’ is ignorance beyond belief, imo.

Smacks of the club just giving themselves a pat on the back. Get on with being an actual football club, and whilst they’re at it stop dodging tax which could be helping solve the crisis.

But again you are missing the point. If you want to simply raise awareness, yes show a video. If you add a text number to that and ask people to donate, than are you not just asking those same people to donate anyway, therefore negating your initial point. Regardless of all that, the club have covered it with plenty of videos and social media chatter, they're doing what you are asking them to do, and more. I cant see how you can slant it as a bad thing. Your main issue seems to be with the people doing it, which is just plain weird.

If people can afford to donate, they do, if they can't they don't. If people want to get involved they do, if they don't, then they don't.

What Unsworth actually congratulated everybody for was raising money. How can that possibly be a bad thing?

Reading between the lines here, and I may be completely wrong in which case I'll apologise in advance @GwladysBlue. But I think the underlying issue the poster has, is that he sees this as a group of relatively wealthy and entitled people, taking part in an exercise completely alien to their own personal situations, and finds it to be hypocritical.

Whereas you and I can disregard their own personal situations and see it as people just wanting to do something good.
