One of the nicest fellas you could meet, sure I have told this story before but mention it everytime his name comes up
My lad was in hospital waiting to get an op done,it was his birthday the same day as the op and he wanted a card signed any Everton player so the day before his bday I go down to Bellfield in the hope of getting a couple of players to sign a card, middle of November freezing and lashing down and I want to get home and warmed up,anyway 1st player I spot driving in is Unsy,he stops and I explain why Im getting the card signed,he tells me to get in his car, drives into Bellfield, brings me to the canteen bit they had there, gets me a coffee and some toast, says hang on here, disappears and comes back 20 mins later with the card signed, now that was more than enough for me but he then says who is your sons favourite player,I tell him its Southall and that he has his name on his shirt,Unsy disappears again and comes back with a pair of goalie gloves from Nev himself,he could have just said he was busy that horrible day but went over and above what he could have done and made my lads birthday a very happy one indeed

brilliant

I've mentioned this before in a previous thread, but ... before the away match against the rs in late 2002 I happened to be at Bellefield working. The team coach was parked in the road outside the gates waiting to travel to the ground. The players emerged from the building and started to meander to the coach. Unsworth, who was injured and unavailable to play, was still there though and walked with them. They were all fairly quiet but Unsy was like a fan, he was shouting encouragement and made a few uncomplimentary comments about the opposition. Rooney & Hibbert, who were together, were particularly amused. The brief scenario has not been forgotten, and it's an example of his loyalty to the cause!

Love him to be our manager at some stage, but I don't think I could handle anyone giving him stick if we had a bad run. TORN !!!

Great story. Wish I could like it twice.

Remember his goal in Moyseys first game! :) loved the lad as a player and love him more now as Howard Kendall's heir apparent!

Top Evertonian.
He was having a tough time of it when he lived down here.
Got nicked very nearby drink driving.
Delighted he has come out on top and if he doesn't get the chance of the top job at Everton he could well go straight into the England set up I reckon.

Love the guy, you can tell he lives and breathes Everton. Really impressed with what he's doing with the under 23's.

Top bloke. Heard a story about him bollocking one of the u23s for having a flashy number plane on his new car

Seems to have kept them lads well grounded with a good spirit.

Hope he can repeat all that with the first team one day.
