George has the directness to his game to make something happen that Dibling hasn't shown and I'm not surprised he's being preferred because of it.

Yes should have done better but let’s be clear McNeill has done exactly the same, if not worse this season.

The key is that Moyes considered him expendable to the tune of £20mil and unworthy of a contract extension.

Clearly not going to push us into a top 6 side.

Done well actually the last few games since coming back in but phoned it in a lot earlier in the season.

Its a real head scratcher how Moyes keeps favouring him.

Its just mindblowing that McNeil was sellable for £20mil in January. Also Armstrong has been used out wide clearly as a defensive safety net.

Meanwhile our McNeil replacement who plays with pace and without fear, along with our £40mil summer signing...as well as our cameo king Aznou arent given a run of starts.

Such a short term negative strategy.

No mate. Nobody in December 24 when Dyche had dragged us into the thick of a relegation battle, was hoping that we’d lose to City, Arsenal and Chelsea. Apart from Dave.

He doesn't play those players because he's not able to coach them and find a place for them.

They all should be up and running and contributing here instead of being sat on the bench.

He's thrown the best part of £80M for those 4 players down the toilet...and if we get beat next week and a couple of others below win then we're just about holding off a bottom half position.

Moyes can GTF as far as I'm concerned. He's proven without a shadow of a doubt he's not a manager who we can build with.

Actually, I want Moyes given a 2 year extension.

Moyes is boss. Sure he's not the most adventurous of managers and not the greatest at bringing the youngsters through but that takes more than just the manager.

Genuinely think he's the best man for us right now and for next few years. Less than 12 months since we we're scrapping to stay in the league. Need patience after the scatter gun break the bank approach from the last regime. Rome wasn't built in a day folks!

When was the last time we did that?

We went out the league cup in the second game was it to a team that had about 2 points for half the season, with the manager shrugging his shoulders and all-but-saying "so what who cares". Then we put up no fight whatsoever and went out the FA cup in the first game to a team with 74 players away at AFCON.

I'd love nothing more than this club to go all-out to win a dometic trophy (even if it meant plodding around in 15th-ish place all season), but we don't take cup competitions seriously. I don't recall the last time we did. Everyone hanging their hat on getting Europe and just assuming we'll magically take it seriously and wont go crashing out to whatever team finishes 3rd in the Romanian or Finlandish league.

At the start of the season we all *KNEW* there was never going to be any real threat of relegation under Moyes, yet in the cup comps we crashed out barely as soon as they started. Teams from the lower leagues did better than us. Yet, with a little bit of luck, they were winable competitions, or at very least we could be going to the latter stages, enjoying a "cup run", getting excited etc.

I defy anyone to honestly tell me we took them seriously vs prioritizing the league (whilst being under no illusions that most people care about league placement than cup performance, which is fair enough).

I don’t get the shouts for extending Moyes’ contract now. He’s no doubt done well, but the club should keep their power dry and wait until Christmas of this year to see if they want to extend. This allows us to assess this season in full and to assess the impact of summer arrivals and their integration into next seasons team.

And Sunderland had half a team away in another continent. I think it's fair to say we've clearly prioritized league over cups for long long time, so I accept and understand it is what it is, but it would be nice to win a trophy instead of throwing a street party because we finished 7th once in a decade.
