People slate the squad claiming it's terrible but there are some technically sound players like KDH and Ndiaye, so why can't we link more than one pass together or land one precise through ball?
tbf KDH played like hed been on the lash. He must have been tackled or misplaced a pass about 10-12 times last night. Was like watching Andre Gomes against Villa away

Normally he's so good with the ball and plays it well. One of those nights for him. Looked goosed after an hour I thought.

It's a decent quality squad. Well above average in this PL.

We cant put passes together because the manager is clueless about how to instruct that on the training pitch.

Put Iraola in charge of this lot and we'd see a 1000% improvement in a couple of weeks.

Still baffled by yesterday's line up, and the fact that it may persist. It is obvious now that we aren't in any trouble, nor are we making any meaningful charge for Europe, so I really don't see what the harm with in (and I cant believe I am actually typing this) playing the squad that you have in their actual, natural positions (what a concept). Even if they aren't your favourites, even if they 'have a lot to learn', play right backs at right back, and center midfielders in the center of midfield. What is the worst that can happen? The best we have looked this season is those few games during the AFCON when we were actually balanced, with players in their natural positions. It is so frustrating, particularly seeing as there is no injury crisis that would warrant this

I don't agree tbh, all he has done is let him play his preferred role. Dyche tried too turn Garner into a DM which Garner clearly wasn't happy with, Moyes has just let him do more of what he did when he played at Forest. I'm not sure if that's actually improving as such as he had it in him already.
But at least he's playing him where he excels. Shame he fails to do it with other players

Whoa!

There's 33 points to play for.

It'll come down to 7th and 8th again for a euro spot and the two clubs occupying those places right now are 3 and 1 point respectively above us.

Let's tighten up and get some form at home to match the away form and we can still make Europe next season.

I think Grealish was kind of a curse in disguise. We brought in a top player on loan that really carried us and made us look better than we actually were and made us think we may not need to address certain things. He is a cut above. Even with him in the lineup we struggled to create clear and open chances. We rely too much on brute force.

Not that having 4 very good attacking center backs and KDH is a bad thing or having that option is a negative, it's just hard to win consistently in the premier league when every team in the league is filled with athletes and physical beasts these days. You need a bit of flair and dynamism.

We've relied in the early part of the season on 'carries' to get us into dangerous positions. Grealish's absence and Ndiaye having an up and down season for him (plus his absence at AFCON) has exposed just how poor our passing game is under Moyes.

If we want to kick on we have to dump Moyes. Simple as that.

Saw the press interaction post game and thought, it was poor by Moyes. Defending himself with a blanket management decision rather than talking us through the changes or the reason players were played out of position. His dismissal of Joe Thomas' relevant questions and later sharing what was favourable for him during the interview, all reaks of the same. It was a big game for us and he seemed to treat it differently.

what did thomas ask of him?

That's problem like you said he's usually quality but even if he has an underwhelming performance KDH is afforded a free pass from Moyes to finish the match. There's no accountability for players he fancies

You don't always need flair players to be creative, a full back and a midfielder doing a one two by the corner of the box then flashing a cross the face of goal is not that hard to do, you also don't need quality players to do that just some coaching on the training ground. We always look like we haven't been coached apart from formation.

We don't get enough players in the box because of the negative managers we have, last night when we were a goal down we had static Barry and nobody else, so everything was just played outside their box going sideways and backwards. That comes from the manager, no risk no reward.

Our attacking at home is pathetic to say the least, its like we do a half hearted press which is worse than not pressing as it leaves us in no mans land.

It’s one thing playing a certain way when you have Harrison Lindstrom Doucoure McNeil Beto to choose from.

It’s another when you have Grealish KDH Ndiaye Dibling George Alcaraz Rohl and have spent 30 mill on Barry upfront.

There’s absolutely zero reason to be playing Armstrong, a player we deemed only good enough to go on loan at the start of this season, out of position ahead of a 30 mill summer signing and your January signing who you brought in to cover that position specifically. Zero need, just completely stubborn stupidity.

Absolute garbage. This squad wouldnt suit Iraola. Last nights goal was a classic example why Everton cant leave that sort of grass for opposition players to expose the lack of pace we have at the back. The two central midfield players last night are not Iraola type midfielders who travel with the ball. Dewsbury hall is possibly the only player who fits that bill.
Clubs like bournemouth employ managers to suit their recruitment so that when iraola moves on they havent got to completely change the set up. Its already in place. Same as why thomas frank struggled at spurs and Andrews hasnt at Brentford.
You're off your head if you think iraola suits the likes of tarkowski and keane.

If we had Branthwaite and O'Brien with pacey full backs which Iraola would buy then that goal doesn't happen so I fail to see your point

because we havent looked anywhere near close to 3 extra wins at home, only the villa game, when they were absolutely atrocious and Grealish was in god mode, out of all the home games we dropped points in, did we deserve to win the game

conversely away, the likes of united, fulham and villa should have beaten us were it not for good fortune/pickford heroics
