2025/26 David Moyes

You're not making any sense, yes we had enough players to field a team, but not a good enough squad to chose from. We were no better off than Burnley on saturday, let alone the rest of the league..

What is the Big Lie about that..
We definitely are short of players at the moment, Dave is just doing Dave things, but we were better off than Burnley. I wouldn't take a single Burnley player even in Saturday's eleven. We should have had enough to beat them.

I repeat: dont accept the Big Lie about being 'short of players'.

Dont let a poor manager excuse poor results.

The current squad cost around 340m (Chat GPT), I didn't verify the other clubs tho, out of all permanent teams in the prem in the last 5 seasons only Palace players cost less than Everton apparently.

But adding KDH, Ndiaye and Patterson to your list which make about another 55m sound about right.

There's so many Christmas agendas on the go it's hard to keep track.

Schrodinger's squad that's simultaneously good enough for a European place and made us the Mersey millionaires gain but yet we can all agree that the signings we made bar KDH and Grealish haven't actually done anything of value yet.

All so you can choose to have a stick to beat the manager with for committing the sin of getting us midtable or *checking my recent notes here* refusing to throw 150k a week at our former number 9 that went 20 odd games without scoring last year because he's got a purple patch elsewhere.

It's going to be feasting time in here post match.

Maybe there's an agenda in play to spin our season as acceptable or even a success right now when we're 12th in the table and playing tat football after a major boost of investment in the summer?

I consider it acceptable, not successful, but about what is expect since the "major boost" of investment was the first the squad has had in half a decade and far less than what the Friedkin's aimed to spend themselves.

At least we now know the truth that no one on here was being ‘gasdyched’ into lowering expectations. The second he’s out the door and we splash 100 million plus on the team we’ve got people falling over themselves to embrace lower mid table, stability, 50 points.

It was big bad Dyche lowering your standards though lads for all those years wasn’t it. ‘I’m being gasdyched’, course you were.

They 'won' though by 'getting Dyche out'. They 'did' that. What followed next was neither here nor there. The major success of getting gravel tits out means the world to them.

As I remember it plenty were happy with the points deduction season. Even though there were grumbles over Dyche's style of footy the results were there.

It was crap footy and the relegation battle again that had people sack it in with him.

Sean Dyche is understood to have told The Friedkin Group he had taken Everton as far as he could. They feel he "gave up" after backing him. Discussions over compensation in recent days. A package agreed, but not everything Dyche felt he was entitled to. (Paul Joyce)

Those horrible Everton fans making him admit that he can't do his job.

And look what followed next....David Moyes plucking us out of the relegation battle Dyche got us into. Delightful wasn't it.

Under Dyche - GOT reaction

Talking about avoiding relegation - not on, what happened to NSNO
Criticising players - he’s thrown them under the bus
Saying the opposition have a good team - no excuses, we’re Everton
Mentioning prem experience, or fitness - shut your mouth you brexit curry eating dinosaur
Bemoaning player unavailability - another excuse
Claiming fans have European expectations - he’s having a go at the fans
Dropping points to newly promoted teams - sackable offence
Not starting Roman Dixon - sackable offence

Under Moyes - GOT reaction
Talking about avoiding relegation - it’s all about stability
Criticising players - they deserve it
Saying the opposition have a good team - it’s the truth
Mentioning prem experience or fitness - absolutely right, we need prem ready players now.
Bemoaning player availability - it would impact any team, we have a crap squad
Claiming fans have European expectations - fans shouldn’t have them, that’s crazy, it’s all about stability, we have a crap squad that needs another 100 mill pumped in
Dropping points to newly promoted teams - we’re basically the same as them without our best players, can’t expect to be ready for the season when he wasn’t backed in the summer
Not starting Roman Dixon - who? Oh him, he’s crap anyway. Moyes is doing the right thing keeping our 40 mill winger on the bench for half a season though and giving Aznou zero game time, he needs prem proven players now.

They’re both saying exactly the same things and neither of them are/were wrong. We do need prem proven players in every position, a lot of teams in the league are better than us, and the job for both of them at first was about avoiding relegation.

Yet the reaction to one was complete hysteria whilst the reaction to the same messages from the other is a race to down play any expectations whatsoever. At one point even Moyes a very conservative manager was talking about Europe and it was getting shouted down on here!

We have poured 100 mill plus into a squad that has achieved 48 points two seasons in a row. For me mid 50s, top half, and a cup run would be ‘par’ and equivalent progress for the fifth highest net spend in the league last summer. Moyes is on track for that at the moment if we can have a better second half of the season and take a tilt at the FA Cup.
