2025/26 David Moyes

…..absolutely but it’s important posters aren’t fixed in their views. If they are, they look for excuses rather than accept situations.

From a managerial perspective to have us on 28 points at the end of December, 14 points outside the relegation places and just four points off the top 4 is some achievement.

From what I see, there is quite a large group of posters who are anti-Moyes but it’s difficult to deny he’s done a terrific job since he came in. It’s been an ideal appointment given where we were, the transition to new ground with new owners.
I'd say Davek is fixed in his views Eggs

I commend Moyes with a win in very challenging circumstances , although he seems to inadvertently through injuries find the best position for players than opts to revert when other options are available, such as returning kdh to the ten role when he was fit after a couple excellent performances as a 8 and then having Jake as the cb , that's his best position as well. I worry that when keane is fit ,it will be business as usual.
Moyes tends to excel in situations where options are limited strangely enough

9 away wins in a calendar year with this group of players, at this club, which is normally allergic to travelling is absolutely magnificent.
That win will have gone down very well with the owners, Davey has just shown them he’s levels above the last snot-rubbing incumbent who once again showed the footballing world how embarrassingly short he comes up in the Premier league, regardless of the quality of squad he has available. Strap in folks, Moyes is seeing out his contract.

I think Moyes is doing a good job but feel he won’t take us to the next level. That will never change for me. His lack of substitutions, failure to go for it against big teams and choosing older heads rather than blooding youngsters will always be an issue for me.

The league is all over the place this year and if we got some full backs and an attacking player than can score he can easily get us Europe.

He’s a million times better than Dyche but I still feel we need to build a squad of promising players with an attacking manager to take the next step
I'm hoping that now we know there is no chance of relegation, Moyes might be more willing to try and go for things more

After the last I don't know how many years, I've no problem with the approach of securing Premier League football first, then really going for it. But only in the short term, ideally the mindset should shift over time from being concerned about the bottom to being focused on the top of the table.

We're not there yet, but all signs are good. However, I'd be very interested to k ow the clubs thoughts for what they want from the next manager

Tbf to Dyche, he had that for his full tenure. Constant fire fighting just exhausted him.

No he didn’t. We got enough points to finish 12th in 23/24 and he put us straight back into his relegation battling comfort zone. He is a terrible manager who can’t do anything other than set up with 2 banks of 4 and hope to nick one from a set piece, a tactic you rarely see in non league football these days.

I respect your right to express your opinion.

Simply and pragmatic: We have the same amount of losses after 19 games, but thankfully put 5 draws into wins.
Yeah, but generally, the losses have been against teams that we notoriously struggle against. I want us to have better records in these games and go into them believing we can win, but there’s still that element of we are effectively a mid table club with a mismatched and small squad.

Away from home - Liverpool, city, chelsea, leeds

United At home - spurs, arsenal, Newcastle.

The 2 really disappointing ones for me are Leeds and Newcastle. Due to the manner of the performances.

I think it’s only Arsenal who have gained more points on the road than us since Moyes arrived, that’s sensational. Nobody could do better with these players 🫣🙃
That is a superb statistic and in a way highlights Moyes strength as much as his weaknesses. When we play away from home, sitting back and trying to hit on the break is acceptable. At home, where the crowd expect a more expansive attacking style, it frustrates.

The issue now is, will the club finance the purchase of players who can support a more attacking style at home (in which case we get the best of both worlds)?
