2025/26 David Moyes

Not sure what else he can prove to be honest? You've watched his teams for over a decade. You know the man. What can he prove?
With the right parts for his machine, he can give any side a run. Has shown he has an eye for a player, simply hasn't been allowed enough of them at any one time. Closest he got saw Yakubu pop his achilles, and Arteta and Jagielka both downed with ACL injuries.

Martinez had stones, Jagielka, Baines, Coleman and Lukaku.

What we’d give for the modern day version of that. Nonsense argument.

Alright mate it's not nonsense though is it. I'd still say Ndiaye and Grealish are better players than any of them. Martinez had a much more balanced squad, look back at my previous posts, I've said I think our current squad has the worst fullback options in the league.

It's just not cut and dry.

He had a league winning squad at Man Utd.

Today we were missing
Grealish
KDH
Ndaiye
Gana
Branthwaite.

We simply do not have players in the squad who are even close to replacing that level of quality.

Burnley were missing players also but nothing like the standard of player that we were short.

We already know our squad is too small , we already know there are positions like full backs and striker where we simply don't have good quality first choice nevermind second choice.

We know that building a team will probably take four or five transfer windows not just one.

A win to day could have seen us rise to seventh which I think would have been at the highest end of our expectations for the season.

I am hopeful we will bring in a couple of players next month but in the short term I would like to see Grealish and KDH back

Am I crazy or is it acceptable to expect a 6th/7th place finish when they're all back firing in Feb?

I’d take that back 4 and Lukaku over Grealish and Ndaiye, any day of the week and twice in Sunday.

It contained a rather nasty piece of work in a certain welshman, and the mike phelan decision didn't help. van persie is on record saying had he known saf was retiring he wouldn't have signed (heart issue) and there was already history with rooney.
Had they won the league after him there'd be more of an argument.
