2025/26 David Moyes

I've been pilloried for suggesting that there are double standards in this forum, so I hope you've got your tin hat on! But you're absolutely correct, some of Dyche's fiercest critics, who certainly wouldn't have accepted injuries as an excuse for poor performances under Dyche, are amongst the most fawning of defenders of Moyes.

Moyes suggesting that that was Burnley's strongest side was laughable, and entirely consistent with his self-serving narratives. A patched up Burnley were the better team out there today, particularly in the second half, and Moyes had no answer for it. He plays the same tactics no matter what is going on on the pitch, with the opposition, or with absences in the squad. We are down to bare bones, I accept that, and in actuality I'm not too disappointed with a point today but if Moyes is a top manager, which I'm told regularly on here that he is, then it's this exact scenario when he should show that.

Not single player on their team would get in ours.

Theyve got more out than us including 3 of their main defenders.

If Moyes said that then its a lie.

No team on earth wins every single week let alone this squad of players. The expectation of basic competence should be applied to McNeil, Mykolenko, Alcaraz and co as well. There's no patterns of play to his sides, but even so the players routinely got the footballing basics wrong today.
I think the manager needs to do his job first and then we can start looking at individuals.

Ownership in crisis, no board, points deductions, sell to profit transfer windows, eye watering debt, cash position absolutely perilous, managers and players in final years of contract. - GOT ‘I want to be entertained when I go the match, I expect progression’

Stable ownership, debt refinanced, no PSR concerns or points deductions, all players and managers under contract properly, fifth highest net spend poured into a squad that got 48 points last two seasons. - GOT ‘it’s all about stability for now’

Moyes Asked About Grealish Return ⬇️

"I’m hoping he’ll be back this week."

Everton Manager Assesses Dibling Display 🔵

"I thought he showed moments – first half, probably more so. I think he’ll be pleased. He got the minutes in."

Moyes' Post-Match Verdict 🗣️

"Missing Ili, Kiernan and Jack, we were missing a lot of creativity. So, it was always going to be a challenge.

"But I’d really hoped we played better than we did today."

…..we know how much @davek and @Zatara keep banging the Iraola drum. The way things are going, he might be available soon. To be fair he did win a trophy managing in Cyprus before being sacked for not winning a single game for 2 months.

His win rate is some way behind Moyes but apparently he’s the real deal;

As a stats person, I would like to see how xGD correlates with points/actual GD, and what level of variation/homogeneity exists between them.
There's not normally a massive difference between the xg stats and actual points, normally a few either way. I think last season we slightly overacheived on the xg stuff. This season the two big disparities are Sunderland and Villa who are both in the bottom half of the table on xg

I don’t think any points were deducted last year, when we were on 9 less points at the same time stage.

Not as much as league position and points per game will. That’s a lot easier to find.

Moyes has been in charge for 36 league games since he returned and has picked up 55 points.

For context, Ancelotti’s only full season (38 games) resulted in 59 points

Martinez got 44 an 47

I would say that both of them had better squads.

It's hard to say about the squads, Ancelotti and Martinez didn't have any 2 players better than Ndiaye and Grealish tbf. Nor did they have a keeper as good as Pickford currently is.

….can’t argue with that assessment.
