Carlo Ancelotti is undoubtedly the better football manager.
David Moyes is the better Everton manager.
That's fine - but the task now should be to change Everton so that the best football managers can be the best Everton managers.
Basically, if
Moyes is the better Everton manager, that means we're not operating at the level a man of Ancelotti excels at. The top. And, of course, we're not. I agree with horses for courses - it's why Dyche was arguably the best Everton manager two and three years ago - when Frank Lampard certainly wasn't. But Everton has to change. If it doesn't - and
Moyes remains the best Everton manager we can have - well, I don't see too much future in comfortable, safe and perhaps regular 8th place finishes and fourth round cup exits.
Will that do for now? Sure (though a cup run would be nice). In the long run, it means we continue to cede the city to Liverpool who were no bigger than us for most of their history but who have left us in the dust over the last 50 years.
