2025/26 David Moyes

Where's this three season spell of getting us into Europe and extended cup runs???
We got into Europa League once. Hardly a spell of getting us into Europe.

We had one semi final of the FA Cup and one semi final of the League Cup. Out of the other 4 cup competitions during that period, we went out at the first hurdle in two of them.
You misread it. That's not my fault. 🤷‍♂️

You reference speed and distance. Do you think the old leather balls travelled with more pace than the modern ones?
Do you dispute sprints and distance covered haven’t increased?
Those old balls soaked up water like a sponge and bog like pitches would demand more power and strength than today.
In truth you can't compare as they are essentially two different worlds.

The ones you can’t find.

You tell me which metrics in football you don’t think are being exceeded in the modern game through improved diet, sports science and ‘technology’

Or are you just puzzled why Dixie Deans one season goal record hasn’t been broken, as you made quite a sweeping statement.
I'm going to have to spell this out in the future.

It was a sarcastic response to people saying things like the Premier League is the best in the world but it is only average because all today's players are crap.

If results underline his previous stated position that a European spot is possible - why on earth would he change his mind and then say it's something that should not be expected?

Over to you...
Dave, You listen/read and post, because listening/reading is a very simplistic way to pick holes. E.g - Pressers/post match interviews/online gaff

You don't watch and post, because you can't find enough ammunition in what is playing out in front of you.

Football is an eye game.
Not a hearing/reading game.

Carlo Ancelotti is undoubtedly the better football manager.

David Moyes is the better Everton manager.
That's fine - but the task now should be to change Everton so that the best football managers can be the best Everton managers.

Basically, if Moyes is the better Everton manager, that means we're not operating at the level a man of Ancelotti excels at. The top. And, of course, we're not. I agree with horses for courses - it's why Dyche was arguably the best Everton manager two and three years ago - when Frank Lampard certainly wasn't. But Everton has to change. If it doesn't - and Moyes remains the best Everton manager we can have - well, I don't see too much future in comfortable, safe and perhaps regular 8th place finishes and fourth round cup exits.

Will that do for now? Sure (though a cup run would be nice). In the long run, it means we continue to cede the city to Liverpool who were no bigger than us for most of their history but who have left us in the dust over the last 50 years.

Interesting that the bar was still “safety” in January despite the new owners who apparently changed the entire landscape and adjusted our expectations dramatically overnight.

And then when we achieved safety under the new manager, as if by magic, it wasn’t good enough and we should be aiming higher.

Maybe it is time to actually start looking at banning this obvious WUM. I don’t think anybody wants him here, and I don’t even think the people that used to find his WUMming entertaining are entertained by it anymore. It’s become so tedious and obvious that the novelty has very much worn off.
It's genuinely frustrating and seriously detracts from most threads and my time on here. I'd have to carefully consider it, but on balance, at the moment, I'd be for it.

It's just like Moyes' 12 season spell of getting us 4th place and cup finals then. Gotcha.

^^^ No idea. 🤷‍♂️

Motivation?

Telling fans they shouldn't believe too much that a European position - low hanging fruit for even Forest and Palace in recent seasons - is possible would probably motivate players to clock off because they have zero expectations to meet.

It's ok to set a reasonable target...Moyes did in the summer when he stated there's no reason why European qualification was out of the question. It's just a pity he's gone to his default position of expectation management when it become's a possibility.

Dyche mocked our fans for “expecting Europe”, and you agreed with him. You are a clown of a person.

European places from a basket case team he took charge of while the club continued to sell players while he was here. No wonder he laughed at anyone demanding Europe.

Nobody was demanding Europe, that was gaslighting from the manager, we were simply demanding to not be 1 point outside of the relegation zone. You laughed at anyone who thought we could do any better than scrambling to 35 points. Own it, and own Moyes giving your scab rat Kopite mate an almighty fisting.

Everything post 87 has been crap apart from the odd blip. Suppose it depends what you judge it against. My boy has known nothing but crap and thanks me regularly for passing on the general pain and suffering. So he thinks having a couple of players that can pass and control a ball like now is brilliant. He's hardly ever seen it, Deulofeu, Mirralas, Barkley and Lukaku excepted.

However I've never been more positive about the future possibilities than now.
