2025/26 David Moyes

Makes it worse - their fanbase is second only to the RS for being horrific scumbags.

Only saving grace is that they’re confined to Mordor in the north east away from civilisation
Tbf I didn't hear them sing "You sold your soul, for this ****hole" or "is this a library? " so I cut them a bit of slack today.

Granted, they got off to a good start, but they were probably the best away support we've had at Bramley Moore this season.

The way they treated Khashoggi’s widow when she criticised the Saudi PIF and made a plea for their sale not to go through cemented them as utter, utter scum in my eyes. They are easily my second most hated club and it isn’t even remotely close

Yea I get it. Nobody wants to hear it, including me. I just wonder what he could've said that would satisfy supporters and the board while at the same time keeping his players heads up. I think most answers he could give would annoy somebody

Well for a start, not degrading the talented players we have. We're back to his "knife to a gun fight".

We have match winners in that squad and he's slowly eroding them of their confidence.

Bournemouth are a tough team, especially at home. Many here regularly shout for Iraola as a potential manager.
Did he not say anything positive about going there and trying to get a better result or was it all along the lines of 'Every team is better than us'? Because we do know from history that Moyes does tend to bounce back from defeats with a battling performance.
Here was the interview.

Honestly didn’t give me any confidence he thought we could get a result at Bournemouth.

I'm happy to not be in relegation battle (yet) and I will grudgingly settle for a mid table finish.
Moyes is not good enough for us though.
I don't dislike the man, but he is not the "Everton" man he thinks he is.
He epitomises the past few decades of mediocrity that we have all suffered.
I want a fresh start that truly moves away from the Moyes/Kenwright era.
You have to do a bit better for mid table finish…

A manager saying "Team X is a tough team" and the fans hearing "we'll probably get beat by them" is a hell of a leap and says more about the people doing the hearing IMO. It's what all managers say. Even the Pep n Klopp every week would be saying how every game is tough, the league is hard etc. Methinks people might be reading a bit too much into it.
Perhaps, it was sandwiched between lots of “we aren’t up to Newcastle quality” praise (a team that haven’t won away for 7 months) and “I’d picked this run of 3 games as particularly tough” so he wasn’t really sending out any positive vibes to grasp hold of.

Nice non-answer. I'll repeat the question for clarity. Is Moyes the man who can help us beat the teams with bigger, better and more experienced squads, like you've said many times (I'll vault you if you insist), OR is he powerless to defeat a modestly better and out of form side at home such as Newcastle, like he said in his shameful and spineless self-serving post-match interview, that you paradoxically supported despite your earlier comments?
He’s very much the former. But the key will be to build a durable competitive squad over time.

I really think we need to take into account that we've just been hammered when analysing his comments. If he spoke about Newcastle in such glowing terms and said things like we're way behind them, they have speed, strength experience and squad depth that we don't have then I'd say stop writing us off before the game, but we were schooled by them just before he spoke so why should he hide his disappointment and honesty on the issue. Keep in mind that we have been poor for years, and any time we get overly positive we crumble. Moyes has been our most successful manager since the cup win, but the 80s really in terms of any consistency. Maybe this club needs the underdog mentality, because we can't seem to transition to a we can beat anyone attitude on a consistent basis, especially among the top performing clubs of recent years. It's always a bit of a suprise when it happens, we all know this.

Maybe I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt because I want to, but I'm a lot more comfortable as a Toffee since he came back than in the recent
past and that includes his dose of realism even if it isn't very inspiring or full of false promises, which quite frankly I find more reassuring after a loss than something deluded like we should be beating these but they hammered us and I don't know why.

He also signaled the our board by praising Newcastle(who deserved praise btw) that they have more depth and the window is coming. Newcastle were very good defensively and very effective up front, and thinking or saying otherwise only makes us look worse than we are, maybe that is the balance he's trying to strike.

As for Bournemouth he did not rank them with Newcastle, he ranked them lower and said 'we have to add to our points there'. That's not anything like a sword to a gunfight chatter. If we lose it, I have no doubt he will point to Bournemouth being strong at home and our shortages in the squad again, but I won't hold it against him if so. I care more about his pre match presser comments and attitude. What he says after a heavy loss is always going to fall short.

You can't underestimate the damage the last 30 years has done to the club. I wish we were in a situation where being 14th in the league and comments like that from Moyes meant the end for the manager, but we're miles away from it being the case.
Indeed.

Fans under 40, of all clubs, now seem to regard us another Crystal Palace or Stoke. Very disheartening.

Appreciate your reply but unfortunately we’ll just have to agree to disagree on this. Rather than realism he just seems to be making excuses to me, he could say they were the better team on the day without making them out to be a super team out of our league.

Cross fingers after Bournemouth we’ll both be praising his press conference!

I expect a tough day down at Bourenmouth, but this feller better have them right up for the Forest game.

We've put in 2 horror show home performances out of the last three and we cant be seeing fans walking out from the 55th minute or so too often. Conceded 7 and scored 3 in the last three at home.

Get this new stadium form back to being solid. It's in danger of turning on us.

Im surprised people are surprised by yesterdays performance and result.

Beat Man Utd away with 10 men, we have won the last 2
Newcastle havent won away all season
Newcastle had only scored 3 goals all season away from home
A heavy defeat puts liverpool back above us without kicking a ball

Its the most predictable Everton performance ever....
