2025/26 David Moyes

I agree with you that overall they have a better squad than us.

However they have weaknesses too, they haven’t won away from home in 7 months and had just had a tough European fixture away. West Ham beat them 3-1 at the start of the month. I think Moyes’s praising of them as not in our league was pretty pathetic and unnecessary.
It’s just verbatim Dyche - there was nothing to be satisfied about from tonight at all.

That interview is the most pathetic thing I’ve seen a top flight manager do since Amorim cowering in his dugout in that shootout loss to Grimsby

Yea I get it. Nobody wants to hear it, including me. I just wonder what he could've said that would satisfy supporters and the board while at the same time keeping his players heads up. I think most answers he could give would annoy somebody
Just say they were the better team, we are disappointed in our performance and will work hard in the next few days so get a better result in the next game. It isn’t original but it also isn’t going to annoy most people either.

Instead he also added that Bournemouth are a tough team so he seems to be setting up a “yeah we’ll probably get beat by them too” mentality with is what winds many up.

It’s just such a stupid comment to say. Half the battle as a modern day manager is keeping the fans onside, and you lose so much favour coming out with that. Clearly they have a lot going for them with the Saudi ownership, but Newcastle were 14th before the game today and hadn’t won away. It’s completely unacceptable to say oh well we can’t really compete in a home game against them.
If he said that before the match I'd agree 100% with you, but he's being asked this after they hammered us. It's all well and good saying 'yea we're definitely on their level' but a bit clownish saying it after that. Take it as a tip of the hat to a good Newcastle performance

Very slightly. Nothing significant

We should have improved far more than we did. The summer business was disorganised and we wasted money.
Yeah we’re not much better. We’ll be fine. Just won’t get Europe without some kind of shot in the arm in January. Crying out for full backs, a striker and some athleticism in midfield.

It is what it is.

Tbf I think we are, both in results and easier on the eye. Not saying we couldn’t have done better of course, the Dibling purchase seems an expensive long term investment when we could have done with some shorter term patches of glaring holes.

We'll finish roughly where we are currently. We aren't awful but we aren't very good either.

It's not time to panic but it's not a position we should be happy with either. There was an opportunity for us to be far better this season and we didn't take it.

Not enough urgency from the club to get better. Not enough people within the club demanding higher standards. And above all, still no sensible recruitment plan. Lower mid table at best until all that changes.

Bournemouth are a tough team, especially at home. Many here regularly shout for Iraola as a potential manager.
Did he not say anything positive about going there and trying to get a better result or was it all along the lines of 'Every team is better than us'? Because we do know from history that Moyes does tend to bounce back from defeats with a battling performance.

A manager saying "Team X is a tough team" and the fans hearing "we'll probably get beat by them" is a hell of a leap and says more about the people doing the hearing IMO. It's what all managers say. Even the Pep n Klopp every week would be saying how every game is tough, the league is hard etc. Methinks people might be reading a bit too much into it.

Better to watch (most of the time) and more points per match.
I don't think we spent that much at all considering how many left and how little we spent over the last few windows. We have some serious catching up to do in that department

That's the problem nothing on bench to change things been like that for ten years plus can't blame manager for that just the shambolic running of club.
I dont blame him today was just poor performance by many of the players, of course do have questions about recruitment still from the summer. Because they have still left us short.
Only this club could go from such a high to such a low
Yeah sadly was another test and we failed for me i still stupidly thought maybe could aim higher this season. But now feel the league finish will be between 12-14th is frustrating
