What a bizarre and terrible comment which is completely hypocritical of his comments about changing the mindset when he first came in.
The mentality shift from Monday to last night was embarassing, particularly given last night was a home match. The fight and desire wasn't there and it felt like the whole week we had been partying as if it was a cup final.
I'll thank him for Monday but too many times this season already I've questioned his decision making and the mentality of this side when it should be doing a lot better. The mid-table pack is very competitive and we are going to be seeing ourselves at the bottom of the bunch if we don't switch something.
I already hoped at the end of this season we'd shake his hand, say thank you and get another man in but he's confirming it more easily the longer this season goes on.
As scathing as I have been towards Moyes during the previous drop on form , I was actually trying to extend him some goodwill and was foolishly optimistic about yesterday's match. I know the midfield options were very limited after the gana debacle , his unwillingness to incorporate Alcarez from the start as a number ten or in a midfield 3 but as a disadvantage with Dewsberry hall positioned too advanced. The same issues that plagued us before the Fulham match seemed to resurface.
People have questioned the ability of DIbling and Aznou, as they have been rarely utilized on the pitch , but that's just Moyes he's incredibly wary of younger players, and I don't think he's keen in general on making subs , if he could play the starting 11 obviously that would include gana without a red card he'd opt for that approach.
I was pleased with his ability to adapt for the Fulham game but it seems he is reverting back to his restrictive tactics, those disconcerting post match comments once again demonstrate his defeatist mentality that creates a barrier in winning matches. Tues he has an opportunity to create a response towards yesterday's calamity or just add to the misery.

Easy to talk Everton up when they're at the bottom isnt it, the minute we have a chance to do something about it and he instantly talks Everton down.
"Yeah we want to win a trophy".....get beat against Wolves and "well most teams rotate so I dont see us being any different". And he just doubled down on that every time he was questioned. That knocked our early season momentum.
Went to the rs away and gave them a 2-0 head start as we were set up like we were going to fave prime 1970 Brazil.
He was a breath of fresh air last season saying he didnt have 10 years to build a team and wants us challenging asap. This season hes right back to predictable Moyes where the changes and team selections are predictable, the lack of plan b is predictable and his negative, dour "let's play Everton down" narrative is like night follows day.
The signings in the main have been poor, the performances haven't been great in the main, and comments like last night will dissolve a lot of the goodwill he had gained from last season.
I swear, one day we might actually have a manager who talks Everton up and has the balls to actually demand more than the crap thats been served up for 30 years.

You have to think when he utters embarrassing comments like that to the press what is being communicated towards the players in the locker room? Or what is their reaction when they see these deflating statements in the press? Obviously Newcastle have a better squad but they've also been mediocre this season until recently so the optics are just detrimental for the club, when displaying such insecurity.
Hey if his role as Everton manager doesn't work out , Moyes could always embark on a circuit as a motivational speaker, his words are so captivating and inspiring... If I was an Everton player I would be very appreciative towards moyes for highlighting how crap I was compared to the Newcastle squad , very enlightening stuff

Im not going to go to deep into that. Not defending or attacking moyes. But that was howes first away win of the season in the league.
They've stunk the place out as much as Everton did yesterday.
The two managers are both sitting on the same points in the table.

It’s all about the lack of good recruitment over many years.
Everton and Moyes have an issue with players with pace.
Newcastle have 4 wide players that have it in abundance. That’s just wingers.

Typical defeatist mentality from Moyes. Before yesterday’s game we were above them in the league (they are only above us now on goal difference) and they hadn’t won away from home this season.
He makes it so hard on himself some times, bigging the journo killers up instead of owning that defeat. They pinged us with a set piece and then pickford gifts them a goal, from there is an upward struggle but him not addressing the midfield faster does not make newcastle prime 1998 Arsenal

He's not flexible enough.
We have a squad here which I think is easy top ten in overall quality. But he wont use it and he wont experiment to see the full extent of what he's got because he's petrified we'll lose and he'll lose his job.
But even leaving aside personnel, he just has no aptitude to change it round formation-wise. He isn't a coach who can move into different formations and certainly not 'in-game'. That's just standard skills for any PL coach unless you're the other limited one - Dyche, who we got shut of in the end.
As to your point about his aversion to younger players: I even doubt that Armstrong will be brought back in again during January when the sensible decision is to do so - in fact, the sensible decision was to not loan him out in the first place given Rohl's injury record last season.
Just a dinosaur operating in the final year or so of a long and largely forgettable career.
