2025/26 David Moyes

Just out of interest mate what would you have done with the "players out of position? They had two very quick wingers in james and gnonto. I thought they were kept very quiet by garner and obrien considering. Could you imagine if we'd gone 3 at the back and keane was trying to chase james?
I mean i get some of the Moyes has his ways etc. But whats he meant to do last night with no left back available. It causes so much problems not only in defence but we have nobody over lapping because he's not naturaly left footed(Garner)
The team desperately needs some fullbacks that can join in pushing forward to create space.
Bar that i dont know what he can do other than make sure we're not conceding.
Yeah good q. Like I said Garner had a good game.

1. If you've got a makeshift back four, then playing it backwards is a bad tactic.

2. Needed to hold it in the middle more and play side to side. Would've created more space. We got dragged into Leeds game.

3. Also, why start Beto? Barry played a season, was fit, is our presumed better forward. Came in too late.

Crazy stuff.

We'll play the want a pen card, yawn, fine. Also nearly got a draw, yeah, blah. The point is we scarcely threatened in 90 mins. That's really bad, and it's on Moyes.

Beto has earned his start. Wether he keeps it after last night. But his service was crap for the type of forward he is. Side to side to what extent. Side to side for the sake of it?
No natural fullbacks kills us. Nobody was overlapping so it takes so much away from your game. Look around football these days all around the world and the importance of fullbacks who can join in with the attack. We had zero contribution last night.
Club needs to get off its arse and go sign some. Even if they're not top quality we need something. Fast.

Yeah this is true too.

Holding possession ( side to side) gets players on the ball, rhythm, opposition can tire/ drop deeper.

We passed backwards, lost possession. This adds to the pressure on a back four.

Mostly very average dead balls from corners and few kicks, too (KDH) and crosses, too.

Team not doing the basics.

“We wasn’t ready”

We’ve known since May or before when season starts so why wasn’t we ready?

Zero excuse for any team to not be ready for the start of the season.

square pegs round hole mate.
i agree we’ve had months to address it
and we still - it’s not like we’ve not been trying. moyes is not exempt from criticism. far from it

but posts like “dithering dave
we shouldn’t of got him back “

hel be sacked “
this is a moyes team and all wel get”
we’re in long for a long hard season”
we’re going down “

utter tripe utter tripe

That game took me back to the old Moyes days, fuming he hasn't brought a sub on till the 70th minute when we have been hammered basically all of that, playing cms all over the place, I would of played McNeil LB but Moyes has a track record of playing CMS and other positions out of position. Yes it's worked with O'Brien to an extent but still.

That first half was reminiscent of the Rooney Sigurdsson season where we bought 30 no. 10's. We could not play the ball more than 5 feet. Something was clearly very wrong in that first half mentality wise. We played scared. That is not a good sign to start the season. If Dyche did one thing well, he got the players to understand their roles and do their jobs. They just weren't very good, but he got them to do the basics. If we have more halves like that, I would be concerned.

They doubled on him and he never lost the ball once. What did you expect him to in his first 20 mins with only Beto ahead of him.
He tried to play a one two with Beto but soft lad Beto miss controlled it as usual and the ball bounced away, Grealish looked like the only one who could take care of the ball in possession, I don't want to see him stuck out on the left all season either

Miles off it. Needs to play it simple and create space, not run into blind alleys. Someone needs to sit him in front of Modric videos and remind him Everton can't do tika taka
Hes  Got used to have talent
Spot on, get him inside where there's more space away from hugging the white line *
needs to get fit too
Unless he start getting involved, we're blowing a rumoured £250,000 a week on a 'G man' Mk III
Gaza
Ginola
Grealish???????
Clocks ticking mate, in your own time as they say.

*this of course could be Moyes telling him, if so - he can do one as well.

Edit; plays a Blinder Vs Brighton, well I never had any doubts, always knew, class will tell, IMWT, etc etc
