He should be sufficiently preparing & making far better decisions with the squad he had at his disposal last night. The buck stops with him.He should have been thanked and had a concession stand named after him for his sterling work from January and then replaced by a new manager for a new era that the Friedkins had long been lining up.
But, of course, that would have required competence from the Friedkins - or even a plan.
We can all vent about Moyes here - and while he did a fine job for five months, I have never been a fan - but the real bitter pill is the slow realisation that the Friedkins are not all that.
Moyes is, basically, the least of our problems right now - but is, undoubtedly, part of the problem. The issue, it seems to me, is that the Friedkins - while excellent in terms of stabilising us - have seemed very unprepared for the chaos of the football operation bequeathed them by Moshiri and 25 years of Blue Bill's patented "Good Times" snake oil.
They've deeply underwhelmed...and we know it.
Signings will always happen over various stages of a window - but Moyes ultimately needs to do his job around this.
