2025/26 David Moyes

I've just read this article and I genuinely don't understand the premise of it. There's just a load of criticism of Ancelotti for some reason and the defence of Moyes seems to be he celebrated goals more than Carlo

Honestly I was a bit lost reading it
Selected highlights to save others from having their eyes bleed:

The 'great' Carlo Ancelotti (note the quotation marks)

David William Moyes (yes, he actually rimmed the Moyesiah in print as he made his "case")

We can't go out with a whimper playing boring footie, it will just drain the life out of pre-season.
Sadly, we already have. What is it, seven without a win?

There's no future with Moyes. Incredibly, he is not even the biggest problem right now. Our owners are. No vision. The tone from the top suggests they have zero interest in any kind of footballing success - even if that is only style of play.

I can live with Everton not winning things. I've had 31 years of practice. But why would I watch Moyesball when there are more entertaining ways to throw matches away in stoppage time out there...

Well, according to the latest Boyland article (of which I've only seen a snippet) COVER, will be sought at LB this summer. So more of Mykolenko as first choice LB.

Yet many of you want to keep dour Davey. A decent manager would have Mykolenko out on his ear.
The idea we we would want cover in any position makes no sense. Other than maybe at goalkeeper

We can easily improve in every other area of the pitch. If someone isn't good enough to start games then it would be absolutely ridiculous to sign them for the first team squad.

The problem with Moyes is that he can’t coach controlled possession. (Results will always be inconsistent if you can’t control a game, it’s why he has a glass ceiling)

At home we’ve tried to play higher up the pitch, but with two slow central defenders and a host of other players that turn over the ball, we’ve been killed on the counter (Newcastle, Brentford, Bournemouth, Leeds, Sunderland etc)

Percentage football will never win trophies. I’m actually a big fan of the man, but watching the pace and movement of a limited side like Sunderland, compared to our statues, terrified of moving out of their position, has made me think we need to cut the apron strings.
He used to be able/bothered to coach the defence too...we can see why he now prioritises 'Premiership experience' -- already coached by someone else, someone better.

Him staying proper ruins next season for me. Arsed renewing my membership to so and watch his absolutely turd football and cowardly tactics

Gonna be grim when he insists on us bringing in a load of old crabs he’s had previously with no resale value too
Moyes stays along with most of the current squad, we are in massive trouble next season. The one hope is that the currently very quiet and inactive owners, step up, starting with a new manager, and do it quickly

Some people seem to properly underestimate the ceiling of this current squad...

Two good specialist fullbacks + a quality striker and, under the right coach, this squad could genuinely be pushing top 4/5 all the way.

And the centre halves given that Brainthwaite can't be relied upon? The midfield considering we currently start with a 36 year old? Also look at the fact one of our best players, KDH, was sold by Chelsea because he wasn't good enough for them.

I think this squad can compete most of the time with pragmatic backs against the wall football, but we are such a step down in quality from other teams. Even the likes of Newcastle who have struggled this year are far ahead of us in terms of quality.

See Moysey has got his priorities right for the summer hols.

Off to work for talkshite radio to cover the World Cup.

Maybe he can scout some players whilst talking nonsense with that absolute berk Durham.

I heard there’s a Scottish right back who hasn’t had much game time for his club this season, might be worth a look since we are desperate for a new one……oh wait a second.
A month of getting his ego patted even more 🙄
You just know he's gonna be all over the fact Modric is still going strong at 40, Gana is still just a baby compared to him.

A win Sunday and it will be used as a justification for him to be here longer term. We have form for this, instead of enjoying a result , short term positives are used to prolong inevitable negative outcomes.

It’s happened with players as well. Players clearly not the answer kept on far longer than they should because they have a handful of decent performances over a season or two.

We knew what we were getting with the manager, Hes showing all the same traits as he did the last time he was here. The league cup defeat to Wolves solidified it with his attitude by being dismissive and saying he’s already moved on from it. A club without trophies for three decades.

Stupidly I was hoping some of his antics would simmer down due to different owners but it seems that it isn’t the case. Sprinkle on top the Echo repeating their shameful behaviour in so called journalism and we are back to 2011 all over again.

We will probably win Sunday just to prolong the frustration longer term.

Am I alone in being appalled by this? Coming off a disastrous end to the season and 2 poor transfer windows, rather than focussing on recruitment plans for the summer he's off on a paid jolly? Why do we pay him £6m a year for him to take a second job, it's taking the proverbial.
We have a transfer committee now that should be doing the business this summer.

Oh, we're definitely winning Sunday. No expectations, nothing to play for and everything for Spurs to play for, 6 matches without a win after being in prime position to achieve Europe, puff piece for Moyes out now, fan discontent. If I was a gambling man I'd put just about everything I own on a 1-3 win for us.
