2025/26 David Moyes

although not a hollywood signing, retaining keane has proved smart enough because of injury to branthwaite.

rumours of new contracts and future signings I can't judge until they happen. its all speculation.
Keane is fine as backup, Shouldn't be featuring more than 10-15 times a season at this point, we simply can't afford to be relying on Keane and Tarkowski again

No a full rebuild but a big part of a rebuild. Bournemouth and Brentford do it all the time when they lose their best players. Sunderland signed more than a full 11.

Losing a lot of underperforming players who put us in relegation trouble is not a negative at all. It was an enormous opportunity. But unfortunately we wasted most of the money.
ok.

two other sides dont rebuild fully but get replacements in when they sell a few players for record fees? sunderland signed a load of players, so did burnley.

we lost underperforming players for little if any fee. they had to be replaced. then we had to make additions on top of those replacements.

a lot of targets simply didn't fancy it. or were kept on by their respective managers.

i'd like to see uri geller make some mind control signings and have us as the best, and if that's to soft hearted, maybe al capone could head up recruitment with his kind word and a gun method.

"it's moyes, it's mentality, it's bottle, it's the support, it's tactics, it's..."

...always something to have a moan about.

when europe looked close there was none of this entitlement moaning, if we miss out it's 'cos we haven't earned it.

Well according to quite a few he achieved nothing in his first spell, so he's cracking on exactly as was this time round.

Some very circular arguments being made, 'he's yesterdays man', 'we want progress', 'don't like his favourites', 'no to soucek' etc.

I remember yesterdays man. And the pain in the ar bum before him... and him... etc

A lot of empty vessels making a lot of noise. Want their cake and eat it to.
I dont mate, I just want to enjoy going to the match. It is my only pastime nowadays and All the joy I had at moving to our fabulous new stadium has completely evaporated. As I said, I don't expect us to win trophies with this team, nor to make Europe, but I do expect my very expensive match day to offer me something entertaining. I wouldnt care less bout the access issues or the midweek night games if we saw our team having a go every game. We do not, we get ten minutes front foot football, then begin the slow, inevitable regression into our own half, allowing them to pepper us with shots?

Some who sit by me say it is the players fault, but if so, why isnt Moyes on the touchline screaming his head off to get them applying his plan? He does nothing, sits there passive or stand at the edge of the area passive. Not good enough for me, and I accept that is just my opinion, I just dont want to have to trudge down there night game after night games to watch the horrible football we have been subjected to anymore.

I'm sure you got the point but maybe fluke wasn't the right word.

Maybe he needs a fluke to win a derby and its an improbability (could you use miracle or does that not meet the definition?) he'll get anywhere near the champions league again playing the same kind of football that he's always played.
we were a point above 18th when he came in 17 months ago.

champions league?

Indeed it was, and the club credited it as that at the time. We could have kept any we wanted.

Flip it on its head, if all these had 3+ years on their contract, it's a MUCH bigger problem. Some of them like Holgate was apparently on 72k a week. Doucoure over 100k apparently.

Asmir Begovic, Joao Virginia, Ashley Young, Mason Holgate, Jack Harrison, Jesper Lindstrom, Armando Broja, Abdoulaye Doucoure, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Youssef Chermiti.

I've not calmed down after the weekend yet.

Think I've said all season that I thought Europe was a bit overly optimistic and I stand by that, but I also thought a par score for this squad would be about 10th.

Until a few games ago, I thought we'd pretty much nail that par score and get close to the stretch target which would have been Europe.

Looking at the fixtures, there's a real possibility we could finish as low as 14th and that would be a fairly significant underperformance Vs what I'd have expected.

Which leaves us with a real issue - because the argument about seeing some reasonable progress this year and that being enough to warrant him seeing him his final year before any decisions are made has been underlined significantly since the Brentford game.

Not winning any of the final 7 games and finishing lower than last season would be enough to warrant a significant re-think, I'd contend (especially when you weigh that against the other negatives of the season - i.e. young players not getting chances and early cup exits).

Lots of the players who left could and should have been sold years earlier. Losing under performing players is an opportunity to improve, not an excuse.

I think mentality is an enormous part of our problems, especially under Moyes.

Moyes is clearly a good manager but it's his lack of a winning mentality and his instinctively cautious approach that have stopped him from ever becoming a great manager.

We got ourselves into a great performance on March but then the pressure came on. The manager reacted by going very pragmatic and very cautious, and the result is we haven't won once since. We've seen this all before at Everton.

And then you have the comments from CEO and manager in recent weeks which seem a deliberate attempt to downplay expectations.

The mentality right across the club needs to change. None of our other mid table rivals tall about avoiding relegation as a big success.

New to this thread or what?

All the exact same problems that are visible now were visible then, and were written here daily by many people, only for, essentially, Moyesettes to just post "HAHA LOL @ U EUROPE LAD" for the most part.

Now that the 1st party was correct, the second is missing, interestingly, or at least not as vocal.
