2025/26 David Moyes

We have to be fair, but in balance I would say we've really had more good fortune go our way this season than we could ever sensibly expect.

There were long periods where it felt like every week we were bungling games that it appeared we had to win, only to see every single other result that weekend go our way and keep us right where we were in the race for Europe.

off the top of my head in 20 seconds. There's been a lot.

Oh I see, I didn't realise you meant you thought we were robbed in those games.

I have to totally disagree.

The derby we played pretty well for the first 25 mins but then went into our shell, equalised against the run of play and then really failed to create anything else. I don't think we deserved to lose but a draw was probably fair.

The city game we barely touched the ball in the first half, did way better in the second but based on the whole game, a draw was probably fair again.
fine.

that's still a point down though...

.
We also finished 15th on 40 points 23/24...which in reality was 48 points due to the points deduction - which wouldve put us 13th.

So basically we've been the same for 3 seasons.

At least that season had its excuses.

Only reason why there's no real uproar vs Dyche is people prefer Moyes' character and his brand of football is more appealing in comparison.

Yeah as I said, in the interest of fairness I wouldn't deny there have been a fair few games/decisions we got absolutely shafted on. Hence the multiple apologies we've received from the pgmol.

I more meant that looking at the bigger picture, I think we realistically were pretty fortunate to end up in the position we were in after the Chelsea game. More to do with other sides results than our own. There were 4 or 5 sides that repeatedly could have been pulling away from the pack every week when we were failing to get games over the line but none of them were managing to do it.

sounds like a bit of collective failure to be so ruthless when the time has presented itself.

maybe other fanbases are talking this exact existential crisis out on their respective forum boards.

Great post but i dont think the recruitment has been that poor last summer, Moyes has not given them a chance for us to judge.

Now if we were sailing through to Europe or had not wimpered out of the cups to Wolves Sunderland then there maybe a bit of an 'he done the right thing as the team had momentum' to back Moyes decision, but he has frozen out completely our new signings and a called back Harrison Armstrong and stumpped his progression in favour of playing McNeil, an out of form Illy, Gana being flogged week week out.

There are many many things he could of done different this season:
Garner RB and play Rohl CM
Illy number 10
JOB regular CB
KDH more central midfield than a number 10
Dibling instead of McNeil
Illy as a striker with Dibling and Grealish on the wings
Myko LB with Aznou ahead of him to inject directness and pace in the side.

Not saying all this would work but at least do something different from time to time.

He has chosen to repeatedly field the same tried and failed 'experienced' players in the same system.

He is out of his depth for this club and the modern game in general.
catch22 time again.

so his signings are all perfect now and it's simply his use or not thereof?

love the 20 20 hindsight.

when he involves someone new its breaking up a winning side, when he sticks to his favourites* he's not utilizing his full squad.

it's almost like there is an agenda of 'woe is us' no matter what.

but but but he spent £130m last summer, they cry, when £80m walked for nothing or token fees.

It was obvious beyond the nose on your face that we were in trouble when we went begging Young to do another season for us, and he then wouldn't.

To big a task for anyone to turn round the squad in one hit. Gutted about Grealish, over the moon with D-Hall, let down with barry, only just seeing a bit of rohl, no idea aznou and dibling.

There is a line to have a proper wheedle, we tried to sell McNeil for £20m somehow but palace didn't have any ink in their fax machine, if he gets that move is Moyes then forced to play Dibling and George more?

Where we find ourselves is the culmination of a decade of dallying. Can't undo it with a flick of a switch. Bear in mind that the season unfolds as the firefighting has to be done.
You can give me crap for hindsight if you like, but I've been banging this drum all season. I've also said, throughout the season, that I'd accept a mid-table finish if we were developing young players and/or a new style of play but we've done neither. We play the same players in the same system regardless of form, regardless of opposition, regardless of results. You bemoan a decade of dilly-dallying but support retaining Moyes who is the king of dilly dally. It makes no sense. Nobody expected us to be smashing the CL spots in our first full season under TFG but a few of us expected to see a coherent plan. This all just seems so familiar.

Possible, but unfortunately we're the team thats ended up at the bottom of the pile so don't think the likes of Brighton and Brentford will be quite so wounded.

They've missed out on a big opportunity for champions league but still have Europe to look forward to regardless and all the benefits it brings. It's us and Fulham really that will be looking at the season as a total missed opportunity.

Then more noise needs to made, to remove him, simple really.

Dont underestimate the power of fans unrest.

Im not saying they are perfect, but the club has forked out over hundred million quid, its just might be worth trying to use them and i dont mean 10 minutes here or there.

Rohl was MOM against Villa then didnt kick a ball for 3 months without being injured, why?

Again i could understand if the team was flying and he didnt want to change anything, but thats not the case is it.
