We spend some money to replace half a squad. It wasn’t some spree, it was just adding the necessary numbers for a league season.I'm curious about the specific points of progress you think we've made compared to last season?
I could play devil's advocate, and say, we've spent a lot of money to fail to improve key positions we've been short in for years, in fact we've got worse at centre forward, worse at right back, and worse at centre half, our brightest centre half looks no longer to have fitness levels to keep with the demands of games, and have virtually the same points total as the past two seasons.
I'm all ears to positive points you might make, but in my opinion, the above is not progress, that's going backwards - especially given the age of many players in the squad and how much all other teams seem to be able to improve.
What progress? We’ll likely finish in the exact same position as last season, the football is absolutely dreadful and we’ve not developed any of our young players whatsoever. It’s never been good enough. The league is a marathon and we weren’t able to cope with losing key players at key moments in the season. But we’ve still made progress on last season which gives us something to build on.
You can be as negative as you like, but it’s still the early stages of a rebuilding process.
yeah, mind boggling.Exact same with the right back situation mate.
I agree. I actually think that we might be hammered at Spurs.Said it earlier, West Ham get beat, all Spurs need is a point against Chelsea, they get that and the game against us there is no pressure on them. They then turn it on and give their fans something to shout about.
No, they drew their match on Monday. They should have lost.

I see your point, the only counter to that for me would be 1) we have better midfield / attacking options than last season (Grealish - injured in Feb and KDH, with an option albeit not very good with Barry) which offsets 2) we’ve lost JB for 90% of the season. I think if we super reliant on one person we have not done our job in recruitment (£60m of it we’ve barely seen this season)When we had our first eleven available we were pushing for Europe. If we strengthen in the summer I think we get Europe next season.
At the end of the day, it’s the first European chase we’ve had in a long time, but we aren’t good enough at the moment.
Now, if Moyes thinks staying at the current level is acceptable then I would say he does deserve the sack. If he wants to make the team better next season then he deserves another season.
If we get a goal they won’t, I don’t think. They are very poor.Mate spurs will beat us and comfortably.
Which is fair enough. It’s the nature of the sport. At the end of the day, we should have gathered more than enough data this season to have identified what we need to do to improve.I see your point, the only counter to that for me would be 1) we have better midfield / attacking options than last season (Grealish - injured in Feb and KDH, with an option albeit not very good with Barry) which offsets 2) we’ve lost JB for 90% of the season. I genuinely don’t see the progress on balance (and certainly not in the stats).I also think that most managers want to improve their results and performances. That’s what they’re in the game for. That’s not a good enough reason to keep them on when they under perform.
Even if he does not go this summer (and that’s unlikely based on Kinnear’s statement yesterday), he’s placed himself under pressure to start next season well, which equally puts pressure on the board to make a decision if the season is not started well.
We will have to score at least 2 maybe 3 like normal. Book your holsIf we get a goal they won’t, I don’t think. They are very poor.
