2025/26 David Moyes

Im actually GLAD we are not going to be in Europe with David Moyes. No way it wouldnt be a disaster. I havent looked but going out early in both cups means we probably played the LEAST amount of games or minutes in the EPL. Weve had at least two three week breaks! His team selection, lack of rotation of players and even amateur use of substitutes tied with underwhelming leadership have led us to be basically run off the pitch in second halves over the last few weeks.
Had we made Europe, he would have a ready made excuse and he would have the " took them to Europe for first time in yada yada" to argue for a new contract.

This is my take on it and why I feel now is the time for change.

We will go on the same run of results next year with Moyes (I think likely pre Christmas) at which point the club will need to make a stick or twist decision. Stick and we have another year of this purgatory. Twist as should be ambitious for the revenue we have and then you’re looking for a manager in the middle of next season which is challenging for all sorts of reasons e.g. availability, instability, likely compensation.

We have two managers (possibly more on the continent from different league available RIGHT NOW). We can get them in, agree squad and first team needs and agree targets. This is the easier most efficient option. It is therefore time to twist.
But that would be the sensible course of action and when do we ever do that?

The problem is plain - the squad isn’t good enough.
It was until 6 games ago. What's happened since then?

Expectation, that's what and Moyes shat his kicks.

When we truly needed to win games Moyes stuck to his safety first playbook

Even worse for a manager who prides himself on defence and organisation we've conceded 14 goals in the last 6 games .

I genuinely don't know how the Moyes acolytes can defend this , hopefully better than his team.

3 points in 6 games , relegation form.

Need to normalise replacing the manager at the right time rather than waiting till we’ve been damaged. This summer the perfect time for change.
100% this.
Moyes could do alright next season, could even get conference league
But we should be looking for far more than that.
Moyes is the most known entity in the league. It's so easy for opposition managers to figure him out.
He relies on a handful of players having purple patches at the same time.
He used to be decent defensively but when that dries up, oh boy...

They won’t see it as progression, they’ll see it as stabilisation, which is what I should imagine was their goal at the start of the season.

There’ll be no excuses next season though.

“There’ll be no excuses next season though.”

Yes there will. There always is. If the club put as much effort into being a top team that competes for trophies than they do spinning narratives with media allies we would be miles better off.
