2025/26 David Moyes

….not in the least. It’s ok to come on here and post plenty joining the anti-Moyes brigade but anybody who supports him gets grief.

I just try and bring a sense of reality to the discussion and the reality is Moyes is doing fine and will be our manager for the foreseeable future ;).
You have to have a sense of reality yourself Eggs. We are a mediocre club with a mediocre budget, not in Europe and renowned for playing the worst football in the league. If I wasn't an Everton fan I would never watch us. The only way to get out of this cycle is to take a chance on a young promising manager and sign young promising players. Managers like that will only have a good win % if they've been managing in Mickey Mouse leagues like Portugal, which count for nothing.

….I actually like Areola but he comes with huge risk. Many Bournemouth fans think he’s not made the most of the players he’s had at his disposal. They were pretty dire when we won 1-0 at their place a few months ago. From what I’ve read, he’s moving closer to home to be nearer his terminally ill father, good on him for that, he’s clearly an admirable man.

In case you hadn’t noticed, we have been signing ‘promising young players’. It’s clearly a strategy. There is a concentration on Dibling and Aznou. I’m sure the intention was for Dibling to play a significant part this season but not all transfers work out and he’s been a disappointment. Similar can be said of the other big money buy, Barry.

Moyes should be criticised for buying those players but he’s right not playing them if they’re not deserving game time. I do think George, Armstrong, Rohl and Iroegbunam could be rotated more, all deserve more game time than they’ve had.

The whole point of buying young players is to develop them, and acknowledge they'll make mistakes. We have a manager who openly criticises young players when they make mistakes and then takes them out of the squad. The 2 do not correlate. If we are buying young players either Moyes needs to change or the club needs to change manager.

…..it’s not a computer game where youngsters automatically improve to be top footballers. History shows many high-profile and expensive youngsters fall short.

Every interview I’ve seen with players is them praising Moyes, he’s brought a terrific atmosphere and spirit to FF. Iroegbunam, Garner, O’Brien young footballers who talk of how much they’ve improved under this manager, loanees like Rohl and George loving life at Everton.

Have you ever read an interview where players don't praise the manager Eggs, the media side is all stage managed these days. We can only deal in facts, and the facts are that we've spent nearly £100 million on players who don't play and haven't developed. Thanks for your patronising comment about it not being a computer game. One thing I know for sure is that if players never play, they don't improve, in fact they regress. They come onto the pitch scared to express themselves and pass the ball sideways and backwards rather than taking a chance. I've seen it at Everton for years because of the players we've bought and the managers we've had, and I see no difference with this manager.

You listen to rhetoric too much Eggs, when interviewed players are hardly going to speak negatively of the manager are they especially on EvertonTV.

…when we get facts and players giving an insight they’re immediately dismissed as ‘stage-managed’ because they don’t fit with the agenda. If a player is unhappy with the manager, I guarantee they’re not going to say otherwise.

Have a listen to the Keane podcast, it’s a very good window into life at FF. One thing he does say is how brilliant Ancelotti was at rotating the squad, I do think it’s something Moyes could certainly do better.

Keane is a yard dog who we've employed for 10 years despite making consistent mistakes, paying him a fortune in the process. I'd be amazed if he had anything negative to say about the club.

….Keane is anything but a ‘yard dog’, indeed it’s his flaky attitude I’ve been most critical of during his many years here. I think he’s actually quite a ‘classy’ defender. What has surprised me most this season is his character.

Let’s not forget, he’s signed as ‘back-up’ and only plays because of Branthwaite’s fragility. It’s testament to his ability that we’ve largely coped fine without Branthwaite. I had a view on Keane but I think he’s actually done very well for us this season.

My biggest concern at CB is Branthwaite’s fragility, I think Keane is actually a decent back-up, for me he just seems mentally stronger this season.

Young players aren't going to openly criticise the manager for not playing them.

Bit naive to think otherwise.

He is slow and his judgement is poor, as is his positioning. We concede way more goals when he plays and the fact we've resigned him for another year tells you a lot about the club.
