2025/26 David Moyes

We've got to spend £40m+ odd this summer on Rohl's obligation and Grealish just to stand still.

If we plop £100m on top of that for another club record spend, what are we expecting?

7th to 12th - and the small margins between them.

My hope is always on cups, and winning a 'big game' or two. It's probably why my enthusiasm on Moyes isn't the best.

[Edit] Or maybe put some hope in that we're building towards the next few years, signing upcoming talent who we'll develop. /sigh.

True, though it is only an eight point difference. Last season Moyes would be on 61 points across a full season, which is still a massive improvement. Even with a lot of changes (and most of the season without Branthwaite, arguably the best player) he’s managed to maintain that.

Think he would have a majority support if he was on track for 61 points this season & we were playing the way we were in the second half of last season.

The issue arises that we are on track to earn a similar number of points & position to the last 2 seasons playing, in the main, some dire stuff.

If you add in George, than that's probably half the kitty gone..

Next season has to be a top half finish.

Ha ha ha. Pure gold.

So half a season is enough ‘stabilising’ and we should be getting Europe as a minimum after that?

The context is the majority of this squad (that can’t be overhauled for £100m) is worse than Martinez had. 6 months of stability doesn’t change that, and I’m bemused at the comparison to be quite honest. We could all play that game by saying Martinez is an abject failure and stain on the club because he did worse than Kendall.

No, the 'pure gold' part is that you accept a season with two 'anaemic' (to use Fluffer Hunter's description) cup campaigns; two shameful derby surrenders and a season that's brought us pathetic home form in a new stadium where away teams relish coming to and where the hope of a top half finish and moving us to a level beyond where we were is slipping away...a season where so far we haven't even outstripped Dyche's last full season here in terms of points won.

...but it's good to know you can support all that on Moyes behalf...then state 'for the record' that you'd shake hands with Moyes and see him down the road.

In short: GET OFF THE FENCE AND STOP CHATTING 'KIN BUBBLES.

There is a whole range of emotions out there.

I can be disappointed without needing to feel irate or offended.
Equally, I can recognise small signs of progress without being blinded by large amounts of stagnation.

If you can only deal in extremes, that's up to you.

Your argument is full of contradiction. We're progressing but you'd let Moyes leave.

How on earth and you squaring those two statements?

Your only desire is to see Everton safe. They’re your standards.

Give Southgate whatever length of contract he wants lads.

Complete failure in the cups and the derby games doesn't help either. Below 50 points in the league is a poor return with the squad we have now.

You're so keen to argue that you don't even read.
"I can recognise small signs of progress without being blinded by large amounts of stagnation."

Are we in a better position than a year ago, or two years? In my opinion, yes. (i.e. the 'progress' part)
Do I believe Moyes is the man to hep us progress faster and further? No (i.e. the 'stagnation' part)
Does that mean I have to be very, very angry? Also no.
